Journal ArticleDOI
A new comparison between the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of battery electric vehicles and internal combustion vehicles
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an analysis for vehicles typically expected to be introduced in 2015 in two example markets (the UK and California), taking into account the impact of three important factors: • Like-for-like vehicle comparison and effect of real-world driving conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling the relative GHG emissions of conventional and shale gas production.
TL;DR: The emissions of gas production have been modeled and it was found that WtW emissions from shale gas need be no more than 15% higher than conventional gas if flaring or recovery measures are used, and are significantly lower than those of coal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Well-to-wake energy and greenhouse gas analysis of SOX abatement options for the marine industry
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the well-to-wake energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of several key SO X abatement options in marine transportation, ranging from the manufacture of low sulfur fuels to equipping the vessel with suitable scrubber solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors driving refinery CO2 intensity, with allocation into products
TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed model of a typical refinery was used to determine CO2 emissions as a function of key operational parameters, and an allocation scheme was developed which calculated CO2 intensity of the various products consistent with the actual refinery CO2 functionality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a new tank-to-wheels methodology for energy use and green house gas emissions analysis based on vehicle fleet modeling
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a new TtW methodology, which combines micro-scale virtual vehicle simulation with macro-scale fleet modeling, to obtain vehicle energy consumption, energy efficiency, and GHG emissions from fossil-derived transportation fuels.
