Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide induces transcriptional activation of the nitric oxide-tolerant alternative oxidase in Arabidopsis suspension cells.

TL;DR: It is shown that NO affects cytochrome-dependent respiration in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh, and the data suggest that NO induces the AOX1a gene and that AOX may participate to counteract the toxicity of NO.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide is induced by wounding and influences jasmonic acid signaling in Arabidopsis thaliana

TL;DR: The presented data demonstrate that wounding in Arabidopsis induces a fast accumulation of NO, and that NO may be involved in JA-associated defense responses and adjustments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide-responsive genes and promoters in Arabidopsis thaliana: a bioinformatics approach

TL;DR: The present report describes the search for a common transcription factor-binding site (TFBS) in promoter regions of NO-regulated genes, based on microarray analyses and finds eight families of TFBSs that occur at least 15% more often in the promoter Regions of the responsive genes in comparison with the promoter areas of 28,447 Arabidopsis control genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitric oxide burst and nitric oxide-dependent gene induction in plants

TL;DR: Data on the NO burst induced by elicitor treatment of tobacco is presented and it is shown that NO treatment of Arabidopsis thaliana plants induces transcription of several genes associated with defense responses, revealing additional similarities between plant and animal host responses to infection.
