Welfare of Price Discrimination and Market Segmentation in Duopoly

TL;DR: In this paper, the welfare consequences of third-degree price discrimination and market segmentation in a duopoly market with captive and contested consumers were studied, and it was shown that price discrimination under firm-optimal segmentation unambiguously reduces consumer surplus for all markets.

Becker meets Ricardo: A social and cognitive skills model of human capabilities

TL;DR: In this paper, an equilibrium model of social and cognitive skills interactions in school, work and marriage is proposed, which uses a common team production function in each sector which integrates the complementarity concerns of Becker with the task assigment and comparative advantage concerns of Ricardo.
