Identification of Five Interferon-Induced Cellular Proteins That Inhibit West Nile Virus and Dengue Virus Infections
Dong Jiang,Jessica M. Weidner,Min Qing,Min Qing,Xiao-Ben Pan,Haitao Guo,Chunxiao Xu,Xianchao Zhang,Alex V. Birk,Jinhong Chang,Pei Yong Shi,Pei Yong Shi,Timothy M. Block,Ju-Tao Guo +13 more
TL;DR: The results imply that the antiviral activity of IFN-α is collectively mediated by a panel of ISGs that disrupt multiple steps of the DENV and WNV life cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferon-Induced Cell Membrane Proteins, IFITM3 and Tetherin, Inhibit Vesicular Stomatitis Virus Infection via Distinct Mechanisms
TL;DR: Tetherin and IFITM3 potently inhibit the infection of vesicular stomatitis virus, a prototype member of the Rhabdoviridae family, and it is demonstrated that both the N-terminal 21 amino acid residues and C- terminal transmembrane region of IFITm3 are required for its antiviral activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferons Accelerate Decay of Replication-Competent Nucleocapsids of Hepatitis B Virus
Chunxiao Xu,Haitao Guo,Xiao-Ben Pan,Richeng Mao,Wenquan Yu,Xiaodong Xu,Lai Wei,Jinhong Chang,Timothy M. Block,Ju-Tao Guo +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown in this report that both IFN-α andIFN-γ efficiently reduce the amount of intracellular HBV nucleocapsids and provides a basis for a better understanding of HBV pathobiology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combination of α-glucosidase inhibitor and ribavirin for the treatment of dengue virus infection in vitro and in vivo.
Jinhong Chang,Wouter Schul,Terry D. Butters,Andy Yip,Boping Liu,Anne Goh,Suresh B. Lakshminarayana,Dominic S. Alonzi,Gabriele Reinkensmeier,Xiao-Ben Pan,Xiaowang Qu,Jessica M. Weidner,Lijuan Wang,Wenquan Yu,Nigel Borune,Mark Kinch,Jamie E. Rayahin,Robert M. Moriarty,Xiaodong Xu,Pei Yong Shi,Ju-Tao Guo,Timothy M. Block +21 more
TL;DR: Two oxygenated alkyl imino sugar derivatives, CM-9-78 and CM-10-18, are potent inhibitors of both α-glucosidases I and II in vitro and in treated animals, and efficiently inhibit DENV infection of cultured human cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent viral RNA positivity during the recovery period of a patient with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
TL;DR: Findings indicate that SARS‐CoV‐2 can cause a long clinical course and the coexistence of viral RNA and viral specific antibodies may imply an immune evasion of SARAS‐Co V‐2 from host's immune system.
