In recent years, smart cities have been significantly developed and have greatly expanded their potential. In fact, novel advancements to the Internet of things (IoT) have paved the way for new possibilities, representing a set of key enabling technologies for smart cities and allowing the production and automation of innovative services and advanced applications for the different city stakeholders. This paper presents a review of the research literature on IoT-enabled smart cities, with the aim of highlighting the main trends and open challenges of adopting IoT technologies for the development of sustainable and efficient smart cities. This work first provides a survey on the key technologies proposed in the literature for the implementation of IoT frameworks, and then a review of the main smart city approaches and frameworks, based on classification into eight domains, which extends the traditional six domain classification that is typically adopted in most of the related works.

IoT-Enabled Smart Cities: A Review of Concepts, Frameworks and Key Technologies

Radio frequency identification (RFID) applications are emerging as key components in object tracking and supply chain management systems. In next future almost every major retailer will use RFID systems to track the shipment of products from suppliers to warehouses. Due to RFID readings features this will result in a huge amount of information generated by such systems when costs will be at a level such that each individual item could be tagged thus leaving a trail of data as it moves through different locations. We define a technique for efficiently detecting anomalous data in order to prevent problems related to inefficient shipment or fraudulent actions. Since items usually move together in large groups through distribution centers and only in stores do they move in smaller groups we exploit such a feature in order to design our technique. The preliminary experiments show the effectiveness of our approach.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is getting more popular and has a high level of interest in both practitioners and academicians in the age of wireless communication due to its diverse applications. The IoT is a technology that enables everyday things to become savvier, everyday computation toward becoming intellectual, and everyday communication to become a little more insightful. In this article, the most common and popular IoT device capabilities, architectures, and protocols are demonstrated in brief to provide a clear overview of the IoT technology to the researchers in this area. The common IoT device capabilities, including hardware (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and ESP8266) and software (operating systems (OSs), and built-in tools) platforms are described in detail. The widely used architectures that have recently evolved and used are the three-layer architecture, service-oriented architecture, and middleware-based architecture. The popular protocols for IoT are demonstrated which include constrained application protocol, message queue telemetry transport, extensible messaging and presence protocol, advanced message queuing protocol, data distribution service, low power wireless personal area network, Bluetooth low energy, and ZigBee that are frequently utilized to develop smart IoT applications. Additionally, this research provides an in-depth overview of the potential healthcare applications based on IoT technologies in the context of addressing various healthcare concerns. Finally, this article summarizes state-of-the-art knowledge, highlights open issues and shortcomings, and provides recommendations for further studies which would be quite beneficial to anyone with a desire to work in this field and make breakthroughs to get expertise in this area.

It is mainly aimed at the people who have been diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases, provide them with daily monitoring in their daily life, timely help patients find the disease, and timely adjust their lifestyle such as diet and sleep, so as to achieve the effect of disease control and prevention. The platform is realized by using big data analysis, cloud computing, machine learning and other technologies. This paper will introduce the requirements analysis of the system, including the system design, including the design of core algorithms, hoping to provide timely disease monitoring services for patients with cardiovascular epidemics through the use of information technology.

In the era of information & knowledge economy, the capabilities of IT and knowledge management play a critical role for any enterprise success. In order to solve the challenge issues of inappropriate IT & knowledge capabilities faced by SMEs, in this paper we propose an engineering methodology to build e-wisdom enterprise service hub system, which is utilized to server as a digital business ecosystem for SMEs. A knowledge-intensive management theory is discussed and employed as the basis of shared innovative capability. In addition, the software architecture of the system, coordination methodology of the physical infrastructure and cyber infrastructure system, is designed and investigated to provide the solution of KMaaS (Knowledge-intensive Model as a Service) from the engineering perspective.
