The data analysis pipeline for the SDSS-IV MaNGA IFU Galaxy Survey : overview
Kyle B. Westfall,Michele Cappellari,Matthew A. Bershady,Kevin Bundy,Francesco Belfiore,Francesco Belfiore,Xihan Ji,David R. Law,Adam L. Schaefer,Shravan Shetty,Christy Tremonti,Renbin Yan,Brett H. Andrews,Joel R. Brownstein,Brian Cherinka,Brian Cherinka,Lodovico Coccato,Niv Drory,Claudia Maraston,Taniya Parikh,José R. Sánchez-Gallego,Daniel Thomas,Anne-Marie Weijmans,Jorge K. Barrera-Ballesteros,Cheng Du,Daniel Goddard,Niu Li,Karen L. Masters,Héctor Javier Ibarra Medel,Sebastián F. Sánchez,Meng Yang,Zheng Zheng,Shuang Zhou +32 more
TL;DR: The data analysis pipeline (DAP) as discussed by the authors provides higher-level data products, such as stellar kinematics (velocity and velocity dispersion), emission-line properties (kinematics, fluxes, and equivalent widths), and spectral indices (e.g., D4000 and the Lick indices).
Journal ArticleDOI
The Data Analysis Pipeline for the SDSS-IV MaNGA IFU Galaxy Survey: Emission-Line Modeling
Francesco Belfiore,Kyle B. Westfall,Adam L. Schaefer,Michele Cappellari,Xihan Ji,Matthew A. Bershady,Christy Tremonti,David R. Law,Renbin Yan,Kevin Bundy,Shravan Shetty,Niv Drory,Daniel Thomas,Eric Emsellem,Sebastián F. Sánchez +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the reliability of the emission-line fluxes and kinematic properties derived by the MaNGA Data Analysis Pipeline (DAP) is analyzed and the effect of the algorithmic choices made in the DAP with regards to measuring emissionline properties, and the effects of simultaneously fitting the continuum and line emission.

The Data Analysis Pipeline for the SDSS-IV MaNGA IFU Galaxy Survey: Emission-line Modeling
Francesco Belfiore,Kyle B. Westfall,Adam L. Schaefer,Michele Cappellari,Xihan Ji,Matthew A. Bershady,Christy Tremonti,David R. Law,Renbin Yan,Kevin Bundy,Shravan Shetty,Niv Drory,Daniel Thomas,Eric Emsellem,Sebastián F. Sánchez +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, the reliability of the emission-line fluxes and kinematic properties derived by the MaNGA Data Analysis Pipeline (DAP) is studied and the effects of random errors are quantified by studying various fit-quality metrics, idealized recovery simulations, and repeat observations.

SDSS-IV MaNGA: Refining Strong Line Diagnostic Classifications Using Spatially Resolved Gas Dynamics
David R. Law,Xihan Ji,Francesco Belfiore,Matthew A. Bershady,Michele Cappellari,Kyle B. Westfall,Renbin Yan,Dmitry Bizyaev,Joel R. Brownstein,Niv Drory,Brett H. Andrews +10 more
TL;DR: The authors used the statistical power of the MaNGA integral field spectroscopic galaxy survey to improve the definition of strong line diagnostic boundaries used to classify gas ionization properties in galaxies.
