Journal ArticleDOI
CPAP for Prevention of Cardiovascular Events in Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Ronald McEvoy,Nick A. Antic,Emma Heeley,Y. Luo,Qiong Ou,Xilong Zhang,Olga Mediano,Rui Chen,Luciano F. Drager,Zhihong Liu,Guofang Chen,Bin Du,Nigel McArdle,Sutapa Mukherjee,Manjari Tripathi,Laurent Billot,Qiang Li,Geraldo Lorenzi-Filho,Ferran Barbé,Susan Redline,Jiguang Wang,Hisatomi Arima,Bruce Neal,David P. White,Ronald R. Grunstein,Nanshan Zhong,Craig S. Anderson +26 more
TL;DR: Therapy with CPAP plus usual care, as compared with usual care alone, did not prevent cardiovascular events in patients with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea and established cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of diabetes on the risks of major cardiovascular diseases and death in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mark Woodward,Xilong Zhang,Federica Barzi,W.H. Pan,Hirotsugu Ueshima,Anthony Rodgers,Stephen MacMahon +6 more
TL;DR: The relative effect of diabetes on the risks of cardiovascular disease and death in Asian populations is much the same as that in the largely Caucasian populations of Australia and New Zealand.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictors of Long-Term Adherence to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Therapy in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Disease in the SAVE Study.
Ching Li Chai-Coetzer,Ching Li Chai-Coetzer,Yuanming Luo,Nick A. Antic,Nick A. Antic,Xilong Zhang,Baoyuan Chen,Quanying He,Emma Heeley,Shao-Guang Huang,Craig S. Anderson,Nanshan Zhong,R. Doug McEvoy,R. Doug McEvoy +13 more
TL;DR: Continuous positive airway pressure use in patients with coexisting cardiovascular disease and moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea decreases significantly over 12 months, raising the possibility that intensive early interventions could improve long-term continuous positive airways pressure compliance in this patient population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adiponectin Protects Rat Myocardium against Chronic Intermittent Hypoxia-Induced Injury via Inhibition of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress
Wen-Xiao Ding,Xiaofeng Zhang,Hanpeng Huang,Ning Ding,Shi-Jiang Zhang,Sean Z. Hutchinson,Xilong Zhang +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggested that Ad augmentation could improve CIH-induced left ventricular dysfunction and associated myocardial apoptosis by inhibition of ROS-dependent ER stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epworth Sleepiness Scale may be an indicator for blood pressure profile and prevalence of coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease in patients with obstructive sleep apnea
TL;DR: In severe OSA patients with comparable AHI, EDS may identify a subset of individuals with OSA at higher risk of hypertension, R- HTN, IN-HTN, CAD, and CVD in excessive daytime sleepiness.
