Journal ArticleDOI
Study of light extraction efficiency of flip-chip GaN-based LEDs with different periodic arrays
TL;DR: In this article, numerical simulations based on the Monte Carlo ray tracing method were carried out to investigate the influence of the different periodic arrays in the thicker n-GaN layer on the light extraction efficiency (LEE) of the LEDs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving the Vertical Light-Extraction Efficiency of GaN-Based Thin-Film Flip-Chip LEDs With p-Side Deep-Hole Photonic Crystals
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the light extraction efficiency of GaN-based thin-film flip-chip light-emitting diodes (TFFC LEDs) with deeply etched photonic crystals (PhC).
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving Light Extraction Efficiency of GaN-Based LEDs by Al $_{\bm x}$ Ga $_{{\bf 1}{\bm -}{\bm x}}$ N Confining Layer and Embedded Photonic Crystals
TL;DR: In this article, numerical simulations based on the finite-difference time-domain method were carried out to explore different mechanisms that can effectively improve this interaction, and the results showed that deeply etched PhCs have inefficient light extraction since they would decrease the effective thickness of the unetched layer and cut off some guided modes.
