Contrasting treatment‐specific survival using double‐robust estimators

This article develops a method to construct the optimal sequential test for monitoring the changes in the distribution of finite observation sequences with a general dependence structure. This method allows us to prove that different optimal sequential tests can be constructed for different performance measures of detection delay times. We also provide a formula to calculate the value of the generalized out-of-control average run length for every optimal sequential test. Moreover, we show that there is an equivalent optimal control limit which does not depend on the test statistic directly when the post-change conditional densities (probabilities) of the observation sequences do not depend on the change time.

Optimal Sequential Tests for Monitoring Changes in the Distribution of Finite Observation Sequences

In this article, we consider detection and estimation of change points in nonparametric hazard rate models. Wavelet methods are utilized to develop a testing procedure for change points detection. The asymptotic properties of the test statistic are explored. When there exist change points in hazard function, we also propose estimators for the number, the locations, and the jump sizes of the change points. The asymptotic properties of these estimators are systematically derived. Some simulation examples are conducted to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed approach and to make comparisons with some existing methods. A real data analysis is provided to illustrate the new approach.

Wavelet Analysis of Change Points in Nonparametric Hazard Rate Models Under Random Censorship

En este articulo introducimos un nuevo modelo Bayesiano para distribuciones Weibull segmentadas, que puede ser una buena alternativa en el analisis de datos aplicados a la investigacion en salud, con la presencia de censuras y covariables. Con este metodo basado en la estimacion de puntosde cambio, hemos obtenido un excelente ajuste a los datos utilizados como ejemplos. De acuerdo con el modelo propuesto, fue posible identificar rangos de valores en las series temporales en que una variable independiente podria tener diferentes efectos. Este es un resultado importante desde el punto de vista clinico. Los estimados bayesianos fueron obtenidos usando metodos de Monte Carlo en Cadenas de Markov. Ejemplos basados en conjuntos de datos reales fueran usados para ilustrar el uso de los modelos propuestos y sus potenciales aplicaciones en investigaciones clinicas.

Bayesian Inference For The Segmented Weibull Distribution

Effects of many medical procedures appear after a time lag, when a significant change occurs in subjects’ failure rate. This paper focuses on the detection and estimation of such changes which is important for the evaluation and comparison of treatments and prediction of their effects. Unlike the classical change-point model, measurements may still be identically distributed, and the change point is a parameter of their common survival function. Some of the classical change-point detection techniques can still be used but the results are different. Contrary to the classical model, the maximum likelihood estimator of a change point appears consistent, even in presence of nuisance parameters. However, a more efficient procedure can be derived from Kaplan-Meier estimation of the survival function followed by the least-squares estimation of the change point. Strong consistency of these estimation schemes is proved. The finite-sample properties are examined by a Monte Carlo study. Proposed methods are applied to a recent clinical trial of the treatment program for strong drug dependence.
