Design and fabrication strategies of cellulose nanocrystal-based hydrogel and its highlighted application using 3D printing: A review.

Omniphobic liquid-like surfaces

Without a fragile micro/nanostructure, omniphobic coatings have a natural advantage over superomniphobic coatings in mechanical durability, especially when confronted with finger wipes and squeezes in practical use. Many reported omniphobic coatings with lower liquid sliding angles showed better ink trace resistance. However, according to our results, these two properties are not positively related. The respective critical factors for lowering the liquid sliding angle and resisting tiny contaminants, such as ink stroke and fingerprint, remain elusive. Through three steps of the thiol-click reaction, a surface-dried, highly transparent, mechanically and chemically robust, fluorinated polyurethane coating was photocured efficiently. Surfaces that exhibited better sliding performance but worse resistance to ink stroke and fingerprint were reported. Our results indicate that a heavy cross-linked structure was beneficial for the resistance to tiny contaminants, while the liquid sliding performance only depended on the surface fluorine content, especially the surface enrichment of flexible low-surface-tension chains. Interestingly, an unexpected transformation from a turbid dispersion to a transparent solution during the preparation was observed. The efficient thiol-click reaction induces a micelle-like structure to open and imparts high transparency to the final coatings. Therefore, this work provides useful information to facilitate the study of omniphobic coatings, as well as a good candidate in anti-graffiti applications. 

Robust and Highly Transparent Photocurable Fluorinated Polyurethane Coating Prepared via Thiol-Click Reactions and What Essentially Influences Omniphobic Coating’s Anti-Graffiti Properties

The research on superwetting surfaces with a self-healing function against various damages has progressed rapidly in the recent decade. They are expected to be an effective approach to increasing the durability and application robustness of superwetting materials. Various methods and material systems have been developed to prepare self-healing superwetting surfaces, some of which mimic natural superwetting surfaces. However, they still face challenges, such as being workable only for specific damages, external stimulation to trigger the healing process, and poor self-healing ability in the water, marine, or biological systems. There is a lack of fundamental understanding as well. This article comprehensively reviews self-healing superwetting surfaces, including their fabrication strategies, essential rules for materials design, and self-healing properties. Self-healing triggered by different external stimuli is summarized. The potential applications of self-healing superwetting surfaces are highlighted. This article consists of four main sections: (1) the functional surfaces with various superwetting properties, (2) natural self-healing superwetting surfaces (i.e., plants, insects, and creatures) and their healing mechanism, (3) recent research development in various self-healing superwetting surfaces, their preparation, wetting properties in the air or liquid media, and healing mechanism, and (4) the prospects including existing challenges, our views and potential solutions to the challenges, and future research directions.

Self-Healing Superwetting Surfaces, Their Fabrications, and Properties.

Solid‐Like Slippery Coating with Highly Comprehensive Performance

Fluorine‐free liquid‐repellent coatings have been highly demanded for a variety of applications. However, rapid formation of coatings possessing outstanding oil repellency and strong bonding ability as well as good mechanical strength (e.g., bendability, impact resistance, and scratch resistance) remains a grand challenge. Herein, a robust strategy to rapidly create fluorine‐free oil‐repellent coatings in only 30 s via rational design of a semi‐interpenetrating polymer network structure is reported. The resulting coating manifests strong bonding capability both in air and underwater. More importantly, it not only provides unprecedented oil repellency, even to high‐viscosity crude oil, but also achieves both excellent bendability and hardness. This simple yet effective design strategy opens up a new avenue to manufacture multifunctional materials and devices with desirable features and structural complexities for applications in sustainable antifouling, drag reduction, nondestructive transportation, liquid collection, and biomedicine, among other areas.

体外培养扩增的间充质干细胞 (MSCs) 因具有愈合损伤组织的能力而被研究. MSCs 的移植可促进受损组织的修复, 并且能分化为目标细胞或是对存活的目的细胞起保护作用. 但目前 MSCs 的移植修复效率受限于被移植到目标区域后, MSCs 的存活率低. 因此, 现在迫切需要制定提高 MSCs 修复效率的策略. 铁含量过载、 活性氧蓄积以及抗氧化性能的下降均会抑制 MSCs 的增殖和再生能力, 从而加速 MSCs 的死亡过程. 值得注意的是, 铁离子含量过载引发的氧化应激 (OS) 及伴随其后的抗氧化系统失衡是铁死亡发生的经典通路. 因此我们认为, 铁死亡通路可能抑制 MSCs 移植后的细胞存活, 降低了 MSCs 的修复疗效. 在本综述中, 我们探讨了 MSCs 中的铁死亡通路. 鉴于目前 MSCs 中铁死亡的相关研究不足, 迫切需要进一步研究, 以期提高 MSCs 在体内的移植修复效率. Ex vivo culture-amplified mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been studied because of their capacity for healing tissue injury. MSC transplantation is a valid approach for promoting the repair of damaged tissues and replacement of lost cells or to safeguard surviving cells, but currently the efficiency of MSC transplantation is constrained by the extensive loss of MSCs during the short post-transplantation period. Hence, strategies to increase the efficacy of MSC treatment are urgently needed. Iron overload, reactive oxygen species deposition, and decreased antioxidant capacity suppress the proliferation and regeneration of MSCs, thereby hastening cell death. Notably, oxidative stress (OS) and deficient antioxidant defense induced by iron overload can result in ferroptosis. Ferroptosis may inhibit cell survival after MSC transplantation, thereby reducing clinical efficacy. In this review, we explore the role of ferroptosis in MSC performance. Given that little research has focused on ferroptosis in transplanted MSCs, further study is urgently needed to enhance the in vivo implantation, function, and duration of MSCs.
