Reflection of plane waves from an elastic solid half-space under hydrostatic initial stress without energy dissipation

In this article, coupled generalized thermoelastic with thermal relaxation time and plasma theories were used to study the reflection problem at the surface of a semiinfinite semiconconducting medium during a photothermal process. Using the harmonic wave method, the reflection coefficient ratios were obtained analytically for the incident CI wave and incident rotational wave. The variations of the amplitude of reflection coefficient ratios with the angle of incidence are shown graphically for silicon. Effects of several parameters (thermal relaxation time, thermoelastic coupling parameter, and thermoelectric coupling parameter) on reflection coefficient ratios were given by numerical results.

Study on the reflection of photothermal waves in a semiconducting medium under generalized thermoelastic theory

A solution of a thermal-shock problem of generalized thermoelasticity of a non-homogeneous isotropic hollow cylinder using a finite-element method is developed. The formulation is applied to the generalized thermoelasticity based on the Green and Naghdi (GN) theory of type II and type III by an appropriate choice of parameters. The problem has been solved numerically using a finite-element method. Numerical results for the distributions of displacement, temperature, radial stress, and hoop stress are represented graphically. The results indicate that the effects of non-homogeneity are very pronounced. The effects of non-homogeneity are presented with the two types of the Green and Naghdi theory.

Reflection of magneto-thermoelastic waves with two relaxation times and temperature dependent elastic moduli

The model of the equations of generalized magneto{thermoelasticity based on Lord{ Shulman theory (LS) with one relaxation time, Green{Lindsay theory (GL) with two relaxation times, as well as the classical dynamical coupled theory (CD), is used to study the electro{magneto{thermoelastic interactions in a semi{inflnite perfectly conducting solid. The entire elastic medium is rotating with a uniform angular velocity. There an initial magnetic fleld acts parallel to the plane boundary of the half{space. Re∞ection of magneto{thermoelastic waves under generalized thermoelasticity theory is employed to study the re∞ection of plane harmonic waves from a semi{inflnite rotating elastic solid in a vacuum. The expressions for the re∞ection coe‐cients, which are the relations of the amplitudes of the re∞ected waves to the amplitude of the incident waves, are obtained. Similarly, the re∞ection coe‐cients ratios variation with the angle of incident under difierent conditions are shown graphically. Comparisons are made with the results predicted by the three theories in the presence and absence of rotation.

Reflection of magneto-thermo-elastic waves from a rotating elastic half-space in generalized thermoelasticity under three theories

In this paper reflection of magneto-thermoelastic waves is employed to study the effect of rotation and the magnetic field on the plane harmonic waves of a rotating semi-infinite elastic solid nearby a vacuum under Green and Naghdi theory. The expressions for the reflection coefficients, which are the ratios of the amplitudes of the reflected waves to the amplitude of the incident wave, are obtained. The effect of rotation, the magnetic field, coupling parameter and frequency on the reflection ratios are illustrated graphically. Comparisons are made with the results predicted by GN theory of type II in the presence and absence of rotation and magnetic field. A comparison is also made with the results predicted by GN theory of types II and III in the presence of the magnetic field and rotation.
