Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of L-ascorbic acid in plants and animals.
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that D-glucose may also pass to L-ascorbic acid through corresponding intermediates, such as D-galactose, D-mannose, and L-gulonic acid.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological synthesis of l-ascorbic acid: the conversion of l-galactono-γ-lactone into l-ascorbic acid by plant mitochondria
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of l-ascorbic acid in rat-liver homogenates: conversion of l-gulono- and l-galactono-γ-lactone and the respective acids into l-ascorbic acid
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of L-ascorbic acid in plants and animals.
TL;DR: Evidence is yielded with both plants and animals that the conversion of D-glucose to L-ascorbic acid is by way of D -glucuronic acid and L-gulonic acid (or derivatives), and it seems that D-galactose may also pass through corresponding intermediates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative estimation of ascorbic acid and related substances in biological extracts by separation on a paper chromatogram
TL;DR: The present method, wnilst not having a very high accuracy, does give an approximately quantitative estimate of the enediols in extracts of biological material.
