Mapping the thermal distribution within a silica preform tube using regenerated fibre Bragg gratings

TL;DR: In this article, the temperature profile of the reaction zone inside the silica substrate tube during thermal heating with a H2/O2 flame under conditions identical to those used in the fabrication of optical fibre preforms using a modified chemical vapour deposition lathe has been characterised with ultra-high temperature stable regenerated optical fibre Bragg gratings.
Journal ArticleDOI

An optimized strain demodulation method for PZT driven fiber Fabry–Perot tunable filter

TL;DR: In this article, an optimized strain-demodulation method based on piezo-electrical transducer (PZT) driven fiber Fabry-Perot (FFP) filter is proposed and experimentally demonstrated.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Regenerated fibre Bragg gratings used to map internal reaction temperatures of a modified chemical vapour deposition (MCVD) optical fibre preform lathe

TL;DR: In this paper, the temperature profile of the reaction zone inside the substrate tube of a modified chemical vapour deposition (MCVD) optical fibre perform lathe has been characterised using thermal chirp compensated ultra-high temperature stable regenerated optical fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs).
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimizing the data acquisition rate for a remotely controllable structural monitoring system with parallel operation and self-adaptive sampling

TL;DR: The results show that, by introducing parallel operation and self-adaptive sampling, the data acquisition rate can be increased by several times without affecting the system operating performance on both local data acquisition and remote process control.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Internal reaction temperatures of a modified chemical vapour deposition (MCVD) optical fibre perform lathe dynamically measured with regenerated fibre Bragg gratings

TL;DR: In this paper, the temperature profile of the reaction zone inside the substrate tube of a modified chemical vapour deposition (MCVD) optical fiber perform lathe has been characterised using regenerated fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) to allow for the development of new dynamic deposition methods.
