Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular Effects of Medetomidine, Detomidine and Xylazine in Horses
Kazuto Yamashita,Sae Tsubakishita,S Futaok,Ikuo Ueda,H Hamaguchi,Takahiro Seno,Sumie Katoh,Yasuharu Izumisawa,Tadao Kotani,William W. Muir +9 more
TL;DR: Horses whose right carotid arteries had previously been surgically raised to a subcutaneous position during general anesthesia were used and medetomidine induced dose-dependent cardiovascular depression similar to detomidine, which was associated with an increase in peripheral vascular resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Canine Acute Phase Response: Relationship between Serum Cytokine Activity and Acute Phase Protein in Dogs.
Kazuto Yamashita,Toru Fujinaga,Toru Miyamoto,Mitsuyoshi Hagio,Yasuharu Izumisawa,Tadao Kotani +5 more
TL;DR: The changes in serum activity of interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) were studied in dogs with acute inflammation, and no dogs showed a detectable rise in serum IL-1-like activity after treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of third eyelid gland removal on the ocular surface of dogs
TL;DR: Surgical excision of the third eyelid in Beagle dogs influenced tear quality level and affected the stability of the tear layer, and at 1 year there was evidence of microinjury to the keratoconjunctival epithelium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anesthetic and Cardiovascular Effects of Balanced Anesthesia Using Constant Rate Infusion of Midazolam-Ketamine-Medetomidine with Inhalation of Oxygen-Sevoflurane (MKM-OS Anesthesia) in Horses
Tokiko Kushiro,Kazuto Yamashita,Mohammed A. Umar,Seiya Maehara,Shinsuke Wakaiki,Reona Abe,Takahiro Seno,Keiko Tsuzuki,Yasuharu Izumisawa,William W. Muir +9 more
TL;DR: MKM-OS anesthesia may be useful for prolonged equine surgery because of its minimal cardiovascular depression in both of lateral and dorsal recumbency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of matrix metalloproteinases in canine mammary tumours: analysis by immunohistochemistry and zymography.
Kazuko Hirayama,Hiroshi Yokota,R. Onai,Tsutomu Kobayashi,T. Kumata,K. Kihara,Minoru Okamoto,T. Sako,Tetsuya Nakade,Yasuharu Izumisawa,Hiroyuki Taniyama +10 more
TL;DR: In benign and malignant canine mammary tumours, the zymography and densitometry results for MMP-9 accorded well with the immunohistochemical results obtained with anti-human M MP-9 monoclonal antibody.
