An Observational Trial for Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma in Japanese Patients

TL;DR: Comparison of the outcomes of 340 patients with PMC who underwent observation and the prognosis of 1,055 patients who underwent immediate surgery without observation shows papillary microcarcinomas that are not associated with unfavorable features can be candidates for observation regardless of patient background and clinical features.
Journal ArticleDOI

Patient Age Is Significantly Related to the Progression of Papillary Microcarcinoma of the Thyroid Under Observation

TL;DR: Although PTMC in young patients may be more progressive than in older patients, it might not be too late to perform surgery after subclinical PTMC has progressed to clinical disease, regardless of patient age.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Large-Scale Identification of Direct Targets of the Tomato MADS Box Transcription Factor RIPENING INHIBITOR Reveals the Regulation of Fruit Ripening

TL;DR: Large-scale identification of direct RIN targets by chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with DNA microarray analysis (ChIP-chip) targeting the predicted promoters of tomato genes suggest that tomato fruit ripening is regulated by the interaction between RIN and ethylene signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical Significance of Metastasis to the Central Compartment from Papillary Microcarcinoma of the Thyroid

TL;DR: For papillary microcarcinoma, US is an insensitive technique for detecting the central node metastasis, the presence of central nodes metastasis is unrelated to DFS of patients, and when performing lobectomy for PMC involving only one lobe, dissection of the central compartment in the contralateral lobe is optional.
Journal ArticleDOI

Incidences of Unfavorable Events in the Management of Low-Risk Papillary Microcarcinoma of the Thyroid by Active Surveillance Versus Immediate Surgery

TL;DR: The oncological outcomes of the immediately surgery and active surveillance groups were similarly excellent, but the incidences of unfavorable events were definitely higher in the immediate surgery group, and active Surveillance is now recommended as the best choice for patients with low-risk PMC.
