Engineering the adsorption and dissociation of molecules on dual-active sites at interface is an integral constituent for rational design of high-efficient catalysts. Herein, we describe a unique atomic-bridge structure in B-Co-P (namely Co-B and Co-P) dual-active sites on boron nitride nanosheets to stimulate activity toward borohydride hydrolysis. The formation of atomic-bridge structure in B-Co-P dual-active sites is contributed to the Local P-inducing Strategy ( LPiS ). The catalyst exhibits superior kinetics (turnover frequency of 37 min −1 ) with favorable stability during ammonia borane hydrolysis. Both experimental investigation and theoretical calculations reveal the key effects of atomic-bridge structure in B-Co-P interfacial dual-active sites on tailoring the electron density of Co species and reducing the energy barrier of reaction between ammonia borane and water molecules. This discovery is anticipated to furnish an impactful strategy to rationally design novel performance-oriented advanced catalysts for heterogeneous catalysis. 24.8%-efficient planar perovskite solar cells via ligand-engineered TiO2 deposition

Among the emerging photovoltaic technologies, rigid perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have made tremendous development owing to their exceptional power conversion efficiency (PCE) of up to 25.7%. However, the record PCE of flexible PSCs (≈22.4%) still lags far behind their rigid counterparts and their mechanical stabilities are also not satisfactory. Herein, through modifying the interface between perovskite and hole transport layer via pentylammonium acetate (PenAAc) molecule a highly efficient and stable flexible inverted PSC is reported. Through synthetic manipulation of anion and cation, it is shown that the PenA+ and Ac− have strong chemical binding with both acceptor and donor defects of surface‐terminating ends on perovskite films. The PenAAc‐modified flexible PSCs achieve a record PCE of 23.68% (0.08 cm2, certified: 23.35%) with a high open‐circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.17 V. Large‐area devices (1.0 cm2) also realized an exceptional PCE of 21.52%. Moreover, the fabricated devices show excellent stability under mechanical bending, with PCE remaining above 91% of the original PCE even after 5000 bends.

Highly Efficient Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells through Pentylammonium Acetate Modification with Certified Efficiency of 23.35%

Following the 2nd release of the “Emerging PV reports,” the best achievements in the performance of emerging photovoltaic devices in diverse emerging photovoltaic research subjects are summarized, as reported in peer‐reviewed articles in academic journals since August 2021. Updated graphs, tables, and analyses are provided with several performance parameters, e.g., power conversion efficiency, open‐circuit voltage, short‐circuit current density, fill factor, light utilization efficiency, and stability test energy yield. These parameters are presented as a function of the photovoltaic bandgap energy and the average visible transmittance for each technology and application, and are put into perspective using, e.g., the detailed balance efficiency limit. The 3rd installment of the “Emerging PV reports” extends the scope toward triple junction solar cells.

Multifunctional succinate additive for flexible perovskite solar cells with more than 23% power-conversion efficiency

Flexible perovskite solar cells (f‐PSCs) have attracted great attention because of their unique advantages in lightweight and portable electronics applications. However, their efficiencies are far inferior to those of their rigid counterparts. Herein, a novel histamine diiodate (HADI) is designed based on theoretical study to modify the SnO2/perovskite interface. Systematic experimental results reveal that the HADI serves effectively as a multifunctional agent mainly in three aspects: 1) surface modification to realign the SnO2 conduction band upward to improve interfacial charge extraction; 2) passivating the buried perovskite surface, and 3) bridging between the SnO2 and perovskite layers for effective charge transfer. Consequently, the rigid MA‐free PSCs based on the HADI‐SnO2 electron transport layer (ETL) display not only a high champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 24.79% and open‐circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.20 V but also outstanding stability as demonstrated by the PSCs preserving 91% of their initial efficiencies after being exposed to ambient atmosphere for 1200 h without any encapsulation. Furthermore, the solution‐processed HADI‐SnO2 ETL formed at low temperature (100 °C) is utilized in f‐PSCs that achieve a PCE as high as 22.44%, the highest reported PCE for f‐PSCs to date.

Record‐Efficiency Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells Enabled by Multifunctional Organic Ions Interface Passivation

Organic-inorganic Pb-based halide perovskite photoelectrical materials, especially perovskite solar cells (PSCs), have attracted attention due to the significant efforts in improving the power conversion efficiency (PCE) to above 25%. However, the stability issue of the PSCs restricts their further development for commercialization. Strategies are designed to keep moisture and oxygen out of the perovskite films, such as additive, surface passivation, and solvent engineering; however, usually, the corrosion of active films by the residual solvent is mostly ignored. Solvent residue is the paramount factor influencing the stability of the perovskite film prepared by the solution method, and most solvents can be easily absorbed and accelerate the perovskite film decomposition. Here, we studied the residual solvent effect on two kinds of perovskite films obtained by different annealing processes: hot air annealing and hot bench annealing. Several detection techniques were used to study the performance of two different annealing methods, including time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The perovskite film obtained by hot air annealing shows less residual solvent and better device performance than the hot bench annealing method. This method is expected to provide insight into reducing solvent residue to improve the stability of the PSCs, especially for future commercialization.

Effect of Solvent Residue in the Thin-Film Fabrication on Perovskite Solar Cell Performance.

Fast‐charging and high‐energy‐density solid‐state sodium metal batteries (SMBs) working under harsh temperatures are in urgent demand for the state‐of‐the‐art secondary batteries. However, the unmatched interfacial contact and temperature‐limited ionic conductivity still impede SMBs from authentic commercialization. Constructing a 3D ion diffusion channel through in situ interlock interfaces can effectively address these bottlenecks. Herein, an in situ cured gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) is developed by introducing trihydroxymethylpropyl triacrylate (TMPTA) into conventional electrolytes. The as‐prepared GPE can generate superior 3D ionic conductive networks in the cathodes with high ionic conductivity at universal temperatures (0–60 °C) and a wide working potential, which successfully pairs with the high‐voltage cathodes with ultrahigh loads of 13.01 mg cm−1 to develop a practical solid‐state battery. Furthermore, as deciphered by in‐depth X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the flexible solid electrolyte interphase layer is stable enough to prevent sodium metal from the corrosion of the electrolyte and the formation of sodium dendrites. Benefitting from this “two‐in‐one” effect, solid‐state SMBs with the in situ GPE exhibit an excellent long‐term cycling stability at 60 °C with a capacity retention of 80% after 1000 cycles at 1 C, and superior temperature adaptability even at 0 °C with a rate capacity retention of 90% at 1 C compared with that at 0.1 C.
