Journal ArticleDOI
Inactivation of norovirus and surrogates by natural phytochemicals and bioactive substances
TL;DR: Evidence from studies using viral surrogates suggests that numerous phytochemicals and foods containing flavonoids and polyphenols have anti-norovirus activity, and future studies will be necessary to confirm the effectiveness of such compounds against human norovirus and the molecular mechanisms through which they produce antiviral effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiviral activity of Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briquet against noroviruses via induction of antiviral interferons
TL;DR: It is suggested that Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briquet extract may serve as a candidate antiviral substance for treatment against noroviruses and inhibits norovirus replication through the induction of antiviral interferon production during virus replication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Suppression of norovirus by natural phytochemicals from Aloe vera and Eriobotryae Folium
TL;DR: Results showed AV and EF may serve as potentially effective and safe norovirus inhibitors due to their relatively low cytotoxicity, which allows them to be prepared as food-safe formulations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inactivation of Norovirus by Lemongrass Essential Oil Using a Norovirus Surrogate System
Ye Won Kim,Hyun Ju You,Soyoung Lee,Bomi Kim,Do-Kyung Kim,Joo Bong Choi,Ji Ah Kim,Hee Jung Lee,In Sun Joo,Jeong Su Lee,Dong-Hyun Kang,Giljae Lee,GwangPyo Ko,Sung Joon Lee +13 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that LGEO, in particular the LGEO component citral, inactivates the norovirus and its subsequent replication in host cells, and shows promise as a method of inhibiting norov virus within the food industry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiviral Effects of Lindera obtusiloba Leaf Extract on Murine Norovirus-1 (MNV-1), a Human Norovirus Surrogate, and Potential Application to Model Foods
Diana Solis-Sanchez,Adriana Rivera-Piza,Soyoung Lee,Jia Kim,Bomi Kim,Joo Bong Choi,Ye Won Kim,GwangPyo Ko,Moon Jung Song,Sung Joon Lee +9 more
TL;DR: Lindera obtusiloba leaf extract, including β-pinene, may inactivate norovirus and could be used as a natural agent promoting food safety and hygiene.
