The proposed remote-control system can optimize management and efficiency of street lighting systems. It uses ZigBee-based wireless devices which enable more efficient street lamp-system management, thanks to an advanced interface and control architecture. It uses a sensor combination to control and guarantee the desired system parameters; the information is transferred point by point using ZigBee transmitters and receivers and is sent to a control terminal used to check the state of the street lamps and to take appropriate measures in case of failure.

Remote-Control System of High Efficiency and Intelligent Street Lighting Using a ZigBee Network of Devices and Sensors

This paper presents an intelligent streetlight management system based on LED lamps, designed to facilitate its deployment in existing facilities. The proposed approach, which is based on wireless communication technologies, will minimize the cost of investment of traditional wired systems, which always need civil engineering for burying of cable underground and consequently are more expensive than if the connection of the different nodes is made over the air. The deployed solution will be aware of their surrounding's environmental conditions, a fact that will be approached for the system intelligence in order to learn, and later, apply dynamic rules. The knowledge of real time illumination needs, in terms of instant use of the street in which it is installed, will also feed our system, with the objective of providing tangible solutions to reduce energy consumption according to the contextual needs, an exact calculation of energy consumption and reliable mechanisms for preventive maintenance of facilities.

An Easy to Deploy Street Light Control System Based on Wireless Communication and LED Technology

It uses many sensors to control and guarantee the optimal system parameters; the information is transferred point-by-point using ZigBee transmitters and receivers and is sent to a control terminal used to check the state of the street lamps and to take appropriate measures in case of failure. Intelligent wireless street lighting system

In this paper, a fully digitalized current sharing strategy without any analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented and applied to light-emitting diode (LED) lighting. By doing so, the cost for digital control is reduced significantly due to no ADC used. Aside from this, LED dimming is easy to realize. Above all, the proposed current sharing method has the capability of resisting variations in input voltage and component parameter. Such a control topology is demonstrated by some experiments and hence is very suitable for LED street lighting.

Applying One-Comparator Counter-Based Sampling to Current Sharing Control of Multichannel LED Strings

As the LEDpsilas lumen efficiency increases rapidly in recent years, many new LED illumination applications are emerging. LEDs have features such as long-life, small and low power consumption. Therefore, they are used in various occasion such as full color large sized LED displays, traffic lights, and etc. In this paper, an energy efficient street lighting system is proposed. The presented system consists of a LED lamp module, a digitally-controlled multi-phase driving system for LED lamp and an Ethernet-based communication interface. A developed prototype system will be presented in this paper and experiments will be performed to verify the correctness of the proposed system. According to the experimental results, the lighting efficiency is 85 % and the conversion efficiency is 90 %.

Development of an energy efficient street light driving system

An light emitting diode (LED) control, a plurality of duty cycle signals corresponding to a plurality of LEDs are stored in a dual-port memory by memory mapping. By sampling, the stored duty cycle signals are outputted to generate a plurality of parallel single-bit data each having one single bit. After the single-bit data are converted by a data transmission module, each bit of the single-bit data is serially outputted to a drive module to drive the LEDs. Thus, the ON duty cycles of the LEDs are modulated by pulse width modulation (PWM), light emitted from the LEDs are mixed in time-domain, and the brightness of the LEDs can be controlled.

Control circuit and method for backlight sources, and image display apparatus and lighting apparatus using the same

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the luminance of an LED by modulating the on duty cycle of the LED using pulse width modulation (PWM) and mixing light emitted from an LED in a time domain to control a light-emitting diode (LED). SOLUTION: Multiple duty cycle signals corresponding to multiple LEDs are stored in a dual port memory 301 by memory mapping. The stored duty cycle signals are output by sampling to generate multiple parallel single-bit data each having one bit.
