Modern cyber physical systems (CPSs) has widely being used in our daily lives because of development of information and communication technologies (ICT). With the provision of CPSs, the security and privacy threats associated to these systems are also increasing. Passive attacks are being used by intruders to get access to private information of CPSs. In order to make CPSs data more secure, certain privacy preservation strategies such as encryption, and k-anonymity have been presented in the past. However, with the advances in CPSs architecture, these techniques also need certain modifications. Meanwhile, differential privacy emerged as an efficient technique to protect CPSs data privacy. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of differential privacy techniques for CPSs. In particular, we survey the application and implementation of differential privacy in four major applications of CPSs named as energy systems, transportation systems, healthcare and medical systems, and industrial Internet of things (IIoT). Furthermore, we present open issues, challenges, and future research direction for differential privacy techniques for CPSs. This survey can serve as basis for the development of modern differential privacy techniques to address various problems and data privacy scenarios of CPSs.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in smart cities

High-speed trains have become one of the most important and advanced branches of intelligent transportation, of which the reliability and safety are still not mature enough for keeping up with other aspects. The first objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive review on the fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) techniques for high-speed trains. The second purpose of this work is, motivated by the pros and cons of the FDD methods for high-speed trains, to provide researchers and practitioners with informative guidance. Then, the application of FDD for high-speed trains is presented using data-driven methods which are receiving increasing attention in transportation fields over the past ten years. Finally, the challenges and promising issues are speculated for the future investigation.

A Review of Fault Detection and Diagnosis for the Traction System in High-Speed Trains

Transportation systems operate in a domain that is anything but simple. Many exhibit both spatial and temporal characteristics, at varying scales, under varying conditions brought on by external sources such as social events, holidays, and the weather. Yet, modeling the interplay of factors, devising generalized representations, and subsequently using them to solve a particular problem can be a challenging task. These situations represent only a fraction of the difficulties faced by modern intelligent transportation systems (ITS). In this paper, we present a survey that highlights the role modeling techniques within the realm of deep learning have played within ITS. We focus on how practitioners have formulated problems to address these various challenges, and outline both architectural and problem-specific considerations used to develop solutions. We hope this survey can help to serve as a bridge between the machine learning and transportation communities, shedding light on new domains and considerations in the future.

Deep Learning for Intelligent Transportation Systems: A Survey of Emerging Trends

Big data has generated strong interest in various scientific and engineering domains over the last few years. Despite many advantages and applications, there are many challenges in big data to be tackled for better quality of service, e.g., big data analytics, big data management, and big data privacy and security. Blockchain with its decentralization and security nature has the great potential to improve big data services and applications. In this article, we provide a comprehensive survey on blockchain for big data, focusing on up-to-date approaches, opportunities, and future directions. First, we present a brief overview of blockchain and big data as well as the motivation behind their integration. Next, we survey various blockchain services for big data, including blockchain for secure big data acquisition, data storage, data analytics, and data privacy preservation. Then, we review the state-of-the-art studies on the use of blockchain for big data applications in different vertical domains such as smart city, smart healthcare, smart transportation, and smart grid. For a better understanding, some representative blockchain-big data projects are also presented and analyzed. Finally, challenges and future directions are discussed to further drive research in this promising area.

A Survey on Blockchain for Big Data: Approaches, Opportunities, and Future Directions.

Big data is becoming a research focus in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), which can be seen in many projects around the world. Intelligent transportation systems will produce a large amount of data. The produced big data will have profound impacts on the design and application of intelligent transportation systems, which makes ITS safer, more efficient, and profitable. Studying big data analytics in ITS is a flourishing field. This paper first reviews the history and characteristics of big data and intelligent transportation systems. The framework of conducting big data analytics in ITS is discussed next, where the data source and collection methods, data analytics methods and platforms, and big data analytics application categories are summarized. Several case studies of big data analytics applications in intelligent transportation systems, including road traffic accidents analysis, road traffic flow prediction, public transportation service plan, personal travel route plan, rail transportation management and control, and assets maintenance are introduced. Finally, this paper discusses some open challenges of using big data analytics in ITS.

Big Data Analytics in Intelligent Transportation Systems: A Survey

Most of the existing urban rail CBTC train ground communication systems are based on Wireless Local Networks (WLAN) technologies. With frequency interference and the increase of train speed, WLAN is incapable of meeting the requirements of CBTC train ground communication systems. Time Division-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) technology begins to be considered in urban rail transit systems. In this paper, we first design a TD-LTE based urban rail CBTC train ground communication systems, the handover procedure and handover requirements according to CBTC system principle are analyzed next. For verifing whether the designed TD-LTE based system meet the handover performance demands when trains travel in high speed CBTC systems, a laboratory test environment and a real field test environment are set up. Massive test results show that the handover performance of TD-LTE based urban rail CBTC train ground communication systems meets the demands of urban rail transit systems.
