Numerical air quality forecasting over eastern China: An operational application of WRF-Chem

TL;DR: The Regional Atmospheric Environmental Modeling System for eastern China (RAEMS) as discussed by the authors is an operational numerical system to forecast near surface atmospheric pollutants such as PM2.5 and O3 over the eastern China region.

[A Numerical Study of Typical Heavy Air Pollution Episode of PM₂.₅ in Shanghai].

TL;DR: The analysis revealed that the synoptic necessary mechanism of the heavy air pollution episode in Shanghai City could be characterized by the following patterns: Accompanied with weak cold front activities, the city experienced weak winds at first and then northerly winds, causing the continuous increase and maintaining of pollutant concentration.

Chemical Weather Forecasting for Eastern China

TL;DR: Based on the Shanghai Meteorological Service WRF ADAS Real-time Modeling System (SMS-WARMS) and the Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) model, a chemical weather forecasting system is being established for Eastern China as discussed by the authors.
