A new porous Zr-containing catalyst with a phenate group: an efficient catalyst for the catalytic transfer hydrogenation of ethyl levulinate to γ-valerolactone

TL;DR: In this article, a new porous Zr-containing catalyst with a phenate group in its structure was prepared by coprecipitation of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid dipotassium salt and ZrOCl2 (Zr-HBA) in water and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption-desorption, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cobalt catalysts: very efficient for hydrogenation of biomass-derived ethyl levulinate to gamma-valerolactone under mild conditions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted the reaction catalyzed by a Co catalyst, and it was found that commercially available Co3O4 was very efficient for this reaction under mild conditions after reduction by H2.
Journal ArticleDOI

Free radical reaction promoted by ionic liquid: a route for metal-free oxidation depolymerization of lignin model compound and lignin

TL;DR: Ionic liquid 1-benzyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide can promote the generation of the ˙OOH free radical and thereby efficiently transformed the β-O-4 lignin model compound 2-phenoxyacetophenone into benzoic acid and phenol using O2 as the oxidant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Very efficient conversion of glucose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in DBU-based ionic liquids with benzenesulfonate anion.

TL;DR: In this paper, several new DBU-based (DBU = 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4]undec-7-ene) ionic liquids (ILs) with benzene sulfonate (BS anion) were synthesized and used as the solvents for the dehydration of glucose to HMF.
Journal ArticleDOI

One-pot sequential oxidation and aldol-condensation reactions of veratryl alcohol catalyzed by the Ru@ZIF-8 + CuO/basic ionic liquid system

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied one-pot sequential oxidation and aldol-condensation reactions of veratryl alcohol in a basic ionic liquid (BIL), which acted as the solvent and provided the basic conditions required for the reactions.
