Using optical speckle scanning microscopy [1], we demonstrate that clear images of multiple cells can be obtained through biological scattering tissue, with subcellular resolution and good image quality, as long as the size of the imaging target is smaller than the scanning range of the illuminating speckle pattern.

Mathematical programming and meta-heuristics are two types of optimization methods. Meta-heuristic algorithms can identify optimal/near-optimal solutions by mimicking natural behaviours or occurrences and provide benefits such as simplicity of execution, a few parameters, avoidance of local optimization, and flexibility. Many meta-heuristic algorithms have been introduced to solve optimization issues, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. Studies and research on presented meta-heuristic algorithms in prestigious journals showed they had good performance in solving hybrid, improved and mutated problems. This paper reviews the sparrow search algorithm (SSA), one of the new and robust algorithms for solving optimization problems. This paper covers all the SSA literature on variants, improvement, hybridization, and optimization. According to studies, the use of SSA in the mentioned areas has been equal to 32%, 36%, 4%, and 28%, respectively. The highest percentage belongs to Improved, which has been analyzed by three subsections: Meat-Heuristics, artificial neural networks, and Deep Learning.

We report that disordered media made of randomly distributed nanoparticles can be used to overcome the diffraction limit of a conventional imaging system. By developing a method to extract the original image information from the multiple scattering induced by the turbid media, we dramatically increase a numerical aperture of the imaging system. As a result, the resolution is enhanced by more than 5 times over the diffraction limit, and the field of view is extended over the physical area of the camera. Our technique lays the foundation to use a turbid medium as a far-field superlens.

Overcoming the Diffraction Limit Using Multiple Light Scattering in a Highly Disordered Medium

Threshold segmentation based on swarm intelligence optimization algorithm is a research hotspot in image processing, because of its good segmentation effect and easy implementation. This paper proposes an image threshold segmentation method based on an improved sparrow search algorithm and 2-D maximum entropy method. In the proposed algorithm, the nonlinear inertia weight is introduced into the entrants’ update formula to improve the local exploration ability of the algorithm, and Levy flight is introduced into the vigilant sparrows’ update formula to prevent the algorithm from falling into the local optimal solution in the later stage of iteration. In addition, improved sparrow search algorithm is tested on fifteen benchmark functions. The results represent the merit of the proposed algorithm with respect to other algorithms. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to entropy based image segmentation. Experiment results on classical images and medical images show that the proposed method improves the segmentation effect in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio and feature similarity.

A novel method of global optimisation for wavefront shaping based on the differential evolution algorithm

Measuring optical transmission matrix has enabled image detection through scattering media, however its retrieved resolution is severely limited by the number of measurements. In this paper, we introduce super resolution reconstruction into transmission matrix based imaging scheme, to some extent bypassed this limitation. We demonstrate all detailed information of high-resolution subpixel shifting target are preserved in its corresponding speckle signals. And through phase conjugate reconstruction one can get target's low-resolution projection images with accuracy. The final high-resolution image is achieved by subpixel registration and bilinear interpolation operations. The feasibility of the proposed method is theoretically analyzed and proved by laboratory experiments.
