Journal ArticleDOI

Modulatory effect of interleukin-1β on rat isolated basilar artery contraction

TL;DR: The data suggest that IL-1beta causes an enhancement of U46619-mediated basilar artery contraction that probably involves TTX-sensitive neuronal release of an alpha1-adrenoceptor agonist and activation of p42/p44 and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases/p21(ras) pathways.
Journal Article

Inhibition by extracellular ATP of L-type calcium channel currents in guinea-pig single sinoatrial nodal cells: involvement of protein kinase C.

TL;DR: The present study investigated the effect of extracellular ATP on L-type calcium channel currents of guinea-pig single sinoatrial nodal cells by using the whole cell patch clamp technique, and found that activation of protein kinase C involves activation of adenosine, the catabolic product of ATP, which is a cardiodepressant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Presynaptic modulation by L-glutamate and GABA of sympathetic co-transmission in rat isolated vas deferens.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the excitatory amino acid L‐glutamate modulates the electrically evoked vas deferens contraction through conversion to the inhibitory amino acid GABA by a specific GABA transaminase.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lactobacillus casei Strain Shirota Ameliorates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis in Mice by Increasing Taurine-Conjugated Bile Acids and Inhibiting NF-κB Signaling via Stabilization of IκBα

TL;DR: The therapeutic effects of LcS are demonstrated in DSS-induced colitis, providing new insights into its effect on bile acid metabolism and the related anti-inflammatory mechanisms, and provide support for the application of LCS in the treatment of IBD.
