Single crystal piezoelectric transducers to harvest vibration energy
Yong K. Hong,Kee S. Moon +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of vibration amplitude on the performance of a PMN-PT single crystal beam with interdigitated electrodes pattern was investigated and a 10mm-long and 1.2mm-wide rectangular prototype made out of 0.1mm-thick thin films attached to a silicon beam was used to demonstrate the feasibility of a novel piezoelectric monomorph cantilever beam for producing high AC voltage.
Journal ArticleDOI
PZN-PT Single-Crystal Thin Film Monomorph Actuator
Miguel Levy,S. Ghimire,A. K. Bandyopadhyay,Yong K. Hong,Kee S. Moon,S. Bakhru,Hassaram Bakhru +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the use of single-crystal lead zinc niobate-lead titanate films in monomorph actuators is reported, and the non-uniform electric field distribution profile established in the films and its role in the actuation process is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single-crystal relaxor ferroelectric piezoactuators with interdigitated electrodes
TL;DR: Calculations of the piezoelectric response based on a periodically modulated dipolar field yield good agreement with experiment, and discrepancies with the model are ascribed to multidomain formation in the ferroelectric sample as a result of field reversals in the applied electric field along the sample length.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Design and performance of a self-sensing, self-actuating piezoelectric monomorph with interdigitated electrodes
TL;DR: In this paper, a smart cantilever structure using single-crystal relaxor ferroelectric material is presented, which possesses both sensing and actuation capabilities, embedded in a monomorph and resulting in a smart structure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Single-Crystal Film Piezoelectric Sensors, Actuators and Energy Harvesters with Interdigitated Electrodes
TL;DR: In this article, the design and fabrication of novel devices using single crystal lead zinc niobate-lead titanate (1 − x)Pb(Zn 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O 3 -xPbTiO 3 (PZN-PT) and lead magnesium niobates-Lead titanate(1 − X)pb(Mg 1/2 Nb2/3 ).
