According to the present invention, a cooling apparatus using boiling and condensing refrigerant, includes a fluid separating plate for separating a high-temperature fluid from a low-temperature fluid, a refrigerant tank disposed on the side of the high-temperature fluid from the fluid separating plate, a refrigerant sealed into the refrigerant tank, a pair of communication pipes, one end of which is communicated with the refrigerant tank hermetically, a condensing portion communicated with the other end of the communication pipes and disposed on the side of the low-temperature fluid from the fluid separating plate, and a heat insulating material as a high-temperature portion-side heat insulating material coated on the outer periphery of the high-temperature-side communication pipe. In this way, it is possible to suppress a heat conduction from a high-temperature portion (high-temperature air) to the high-temperature-side communication pipe. As a result, it is possible to prevent the descending refrigerant which has been condensed and liquefied in the radiator from receiving heat from the high-temperature portion through the high-temperature-side communication pipe to receive an ascending force in the high-temperature-side communication pipe.

Furthermore, the one surface of the cold plate has a recess which forms the tank section together with the cover member. The pipe member is a multi-flow-path container which is formed by extrusion molding.

A heat dissipation device includes a primary heat sink ( 10 ) contacting a central processing unit and a secondary heat sink ( 20 ) attached on heat-generating electronic components adjacent the central processing unit. The primary heat sink includes a base ( 12 ) and a heat-dissipation portion ( 14 ) disposed on a middle of the base. The secondary heat sink includes a substrate ( 22 ) and a plurality of fin assemblies ( 24 ) arranged on the substrate. The base is laid on the substrate with the fin assemblies arranged around the heat-dissipation portion. The primary heat sink is partly superposed on the secondary heat sink with a compact structure. The heat-dissipation portion can simultaneously dissipate heat from the central processing unit and its adjacent heat-generating electronic components.

A heat-pipe device for transferring heat generated by a heat-generating element, having at least one heat-pipe body which is an extrudate of plate-like configuration made of aluminum or its alloy, the heat-pipe body including a planer-structure portion which has on one side thereof a flat face to which the heat-generating element is directly fixed, the heat-pipe body further including a plurality of passage-defining portions which protrude from the other side of the planer-structure portion and extend parallel to, and apart a predetermined distance from, each other, each passage-defining portion having therein a flow passage which is fluid-tightly charged with a working fluid for transferring the heat generated by the heat-generating element. Also is disclosed a heat-sink device for cooling a heat-generating element, having at least one heat-pipe body including a planer-structure portion and a plurality of passage-defining portions. The heat-sink device may further have a header pipe, and the heat-pipe body may be bent to form a box-like configuration such that the longitudinal ends of flow passages within the passage-defining portions are open in a communication passage within the header pipe. The heat-sink device may further have a first and second header pipe, and the heat-pipe body may be disposed vertical such that the flow passages run in a horizontal direction and are open in a first and second communication passages within the first and second header pipes.

Heat-pipe device and heat-sink device

The influence of hardness and topology of substrate surface on the pretilt angle were investigated for a slightly tilted homeotropic alignment achieved by the rubbing technique. On a soft surface, the grooves are produced which align in the same direction as the rubbing direction while the liquid crystal molecules tilt in the direction opposite to the rubbing direction. On a hard surface, no grooves are observed and the molecules tilt in the same direction as the rubbing direction. These results were applied to the fabrication of a two‐domain vertically aligned nematic liquid crystal display.

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled element having a high reliability with high efficiency in the production step by treating an orientation film composed of an obliquely deposited film of an inorg. substance such as SiO, etc., with a high temp. steam. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 3, 4 which have a prescribed shape and made of NESA film are mounted on each confronting surfaces of the substrates 1, 2. The orientation films 7, 8 are formed by depositing SiO, at a depositing angle of 85 deg., on the substrates 1, 2 formed the electrodes 3, 4 thereon respectively, and subsequently the obtd. substrates 1, 2 are treated with the high temp. steam allowing to settle it in the atmosphere of 80 deg.C and 95% humidity, followed by inserted the liquid crystal 9 between the substrates 1 and 2, and then sealed the inlet for sealing to form the titled element 10. Thus, by treating the orientation film obliquely deposited the inorg. substance such as SiO thereon with the high temp. steam to complete a reaction of SiOx of the orientation film and water, the titled element having a stable orientation film and a good reliability and for a long shelf life, without affecting to water is obtd.

In a liquid crystal display device in which a twisted nematic liquid crystal layer of positive dielectric anisotropy is sandwiched between two substrates fitted with electrodes and liquid crystal molecule orientation films, and in which the angle of intersection of the liquid crystal molecular alignment directions on the surfaces of the two substrates is θ (0°<θ<90°) and the cell twist angle is φ which is determined to give a uniform twist alignment to the liquid crystal layer by the tilt orientation on the two substrates, the liquid crystal molecule orientation films have a twist angle ω which is +θ+180° or +θ-180° when φ is +θ, and which is -θ+180° or -θ-180° when φ is -θ, in the state when a voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer is less than a threshold voltage.
