Journal ArticleDOI

Simvastatin suppresses glomerular cell proliferation and macrophage infiltration in rats with mesangial proliferative nephritis.

TL;DR: This study examines the effect of simvastatin on glomerular pathology in a rat mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis induced by anti-thymocyte antibody and finds the first report to find that Mesangial cell proliferation and matrix expansion have been blocked by simvastsatin in vivo.
Journal Article

Identification of the Transcriptional Regulatory Sequences of Human Calponin Promoter and Their Use in Targeting a Conditionally Replicating Herpes Vector to Malignant Human Soft Tissue and Bone Tumors

TL;DR: Results indicate that replication-competent virus vectors controlled by the calponin transcriptional regulatory sequence may be a new therapeutic strategy for treatment of malignant human soft tissue and bone tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of simvastatin on proliferative nephritis and cell-cycle protein expression.

TL;DR: Simvastatin suppressed mesangial cell proliferation and subsequent matrix expansion, and macrophage infiltration into glomeruli in anti-Thy 1.1 GN rats.
Journal ArticleDOI

Smooth-muscle calponin in mesangial cells: Regulation of expression and a role in suppressing glomerulonephritis

TL;DR: Results suggest that basic calponin expression may serve as one of the intrinsic regulators of glomerular nephritis and improve the understanding of the molecular basis and pathogenesis of the glomersular response to injury.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of bcl-2 and bax in glomerular disease.

TL;DR: The balance of bcl-2/bax expression may be critical in the course of human glomerular diseases and TGF-beta1 participates in this process by increasing bax expression.
