An object is to provide a semiconductor device of which a manufacturing process is not complicated and by which cost can be suppressed, by forming a thin film transistor using an oxide semiconductor film typified by zinc oxide, and a manufacturing method thereof. For the semiconductor device, a gate electrode is formed over a substrate; a gate insulating film is formed covering the gate electrode; an oxide semiconductor film is formed over the gate insulating film; and a first conductive film and a second conductive film are formed over the oxide semiconductor film. The oxide semiconductor film has at least a crystallized region in a channel region.

Disclosed herein are liquid-crystal display (LCD) touch screens that integrate the touch sensing elements with the display circuitry. The integration may take a variety of forms. Touch sensing elements can be completely implemented within the LCD stackup but outside the not between the color filter plate and the array plate. Alternatively, some touch sensing elements can be between the color filter and array plates with other touch sensing elements not between the plates. In another alternative, all touch sensing elements can be between the color filter and array plates. The latter alternative can include both conventional and in-plane-switching (IPS) LCDs. In some forms, one or more display structures can also have a touch sensing function. Techniques for manufacturing and operating such displays, as well as various devices embodying such displays are also disclosed.

An organic light-emitting display includes a first substrate which includes a pixel region, and an encapsulation region which surrounds the pixel region, an organic light-emitting device which is located in the pixel region, a sealant which is located in the encapsulation region, and a dummy metal which is interposed between the first substrate and the sealant, where the encapsulation region includes a first encapsulation region and a second encapsulation region which is adjacent to the first encapsulation region, and the dummy metal is located in the first encapsulation region.

Organic light emitting display

Reconfigurable antennas, with the ability to radiate more than one pattern at different frequencies and polarizations, are necessary in modern telecommunication systems. The requirements for increased functionality (e.g., direction finding, beam steering, radar, control, and command) within a confined volume place a greater burden on today's transmitting and receiving systems. Reconfigurable antennas are a solution to this problem. This paper discusses the different reconfigurable components that can be used in an antenna to modify its structure and function. These reconfiguration techniques are either based on the integration of radio-frequency microelectromechanical systems (RF-MEMS), PIN diodes, varactors, photoconductive elements, or on the physical alteration of the antenna radiating structure, or on the use of smart materials such as ferrites and liquid crystals. Various activation mechanisms that can be used in each different reconfigurable implementation to achieve optimum performance are presented and discussed. Several examples of reconfigurable antennas for both terrestrial and space applications are highlighted, such as cognitive radio, multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems, and satellite communication.

An image display system includes a light pen to generate light to input data, and a display panel to display images in response to the light provided from the light pen. The display panel includes a first substrate on which pixel electrodes are formed, a second substrate on which a common electrode are formed, and a photo-sensor formed on the first substrate. The photo-sensor detects the light provided from the light pen to generate a light detect signal. The image display system also includes a driving module to provide new image data to the display panel to display new images in response to the light detect signal from the photo-sensor.

A 42-element microstrip parasitic patch antenna is developed in the millimeter-wave band for fifth-generation mobile communication base stations. A metalized elliptical stripline-to-embedded-microstrip transition with adaptive via-hole arrangement as well as a 20 dB Chebyshev tapered six-way power divider is proposed to have an insertion loss of 0.045 dB. To confirm the feasibility of the antenna, it has been measured to provide a 6.3% fractional bandwidth from 26.83 to 28.56 GHz at VSWR of less than 1.96. The array antenna gains of more than 21.4 dBi have been realized with sidelobe levels of better than –19.1 dB, operating within 27.5–28.5 GHz in both the azimuth and elevation directions.

Stacked Microstrip Linear Array for Millimeter-Wave 5G Baseband Communication

A novel low-cost, high-gain millimeter-wave antenna has been presented. The antenna is a 6 × 5 proximity-coupled planar array suitable for 5G cellular applications. Good agreement between simulated and measured results achieved shows that the proposed antenna structure is efficient in achieving broadband characteristics and low sidelobe levels with a compact size. The antenna has a gain of 21 dBi over a bandwidth of 27.5–28.5 GHz. It also exhibits an impedance bandwidth of 9.8% from 26.04 to 28.78 GHz.

Broadband Proximity-Coupled Microstrip Planar Antenna Array for 5G Cellular Applications

A compact internal antenna that is composed of a coupled loop with two branch lines is presented. The proposed antenna operates at two wide frequency bands (698 ~ 960 MHz/1710 ~ 2690 MHz) to cover octabands LTE 700/GSM 850/GSM 900/DCS 1800/PCS 1900/WCDMA 2100/LTE 2300/LTE 2500 for the 4G mobile handset. The proposed antenna is designed and fabricated on a support (polyester; er=3.2) with a limited volume, i.e., 7×11×46 mm3. The design methods and the measured results of the proposed antenna are presented in detail.
