The role of big data in smart city

Purpose




Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) has attracted considerable interest among academics and practitioners. The purpose of this paper is to present a critical review of the literature, to identify missing links, to argue for the use of world class SSCM (WCSSCM) through a framework, and suggest further research directions.




Design/methodology/approach




In the paper the authors have undertaken an extensive review of literature and classified articles using a novel classification scheme.




Findings




Through the extensive review and identification of research gaps, the paper identifies significant differences between definitions and methodologies in the SSCM literature; and argues for “WCSSCM.” This term is elaborated on via a theoretical framework in which 18 dimensions are classified under six constructs of SSCM. Furthermore, a list of potential research directions for WCSSCM is discussed.




Research limitations/implications




The research is an attempt to critically review literature, argue for WCSSCM, and develop a theoretical framework.




Originality/value




The paper offers a new approach to SSCM literature, arguing for WCSSCM through a framework, and providing further research directions.

The future development trend of electric power grid is smart grid, which includes such features as secure and reliable, efficient and economical, clean and green, flexible and compatible, open and interactive, integrated and so on. The concept and characteristics of smart grid are introduced in this paper. On the basis of practical national situation, the development plans of smart grid in china with Chinese characteristics are proposed. Smart grid development in china is bases on information technology, communication technology, computer technology with the high integration with infrastructure of generating, transmission and distribution power system. Besides, smart grid development in china brings forward many new challenge and requirements for power system planning and operation in 9 key technologies as below: 1. Planning and construction of strong ultra high voltage (UHV) power grid 2. Large-scale thermal power, hydropower and nuclear power bases integration of power grid 3. Large-scale renewable energy sources integration of power grid 4. Distributed generation and coordinated development of the grids of various voltage ratings 5. Study on smart grid planning and developing strategy 6. Improve the controllability of the power grid based on power electronics technology. 7. Superconductivity, energy storage and other new technologies widely used in power system 8. Power system security monitoring, fast simulation, intelligent decision-making and comprehensive defense technology 9. The application of emergency and restoration control technology in power system In response to the challenge, this paper presents the main research contents, detailed implementation plan and anticipated goals of above 9 key technologies. Some measures and suggestions for power system planning and operation of smart grid development in China are given in this paper.

New challenges to power system planning and operation of smart grid development in China

Since its emergence, smart grid has been given increasingly widespread attentions. Basically, smart grid combines a various modern technologies like network communication, information processing and distributed control to provide a more secure, reliable and intelligent grid, thus meeting the requirements of future social and economic development. As a new paradigm in the power grid, smart grid undoubtedly represents the mainstream trend of future electric industry. As a result, it also brings some new technical challenges to researchers and engineering practioners. To support researchers and engineering practioners constructing a modern and intelligent grid, research in the field of smart grid has proliferated. In this paper, we look deeper into some key issues of smart grid, such as distributed cooperation and control, data and application integration, and knowledge-based comprehensive decision. Still, we give some solutions to resolve these challenges. In addition, we also introduce the concept of smart grid and define its key characteristics. Finally, we outline future directions of research and conclude the paper.

The Future-Oriented Grid-Smart Grid

Reliability level of HVDC power transmission systems becomes an important factor impacting entire power grid.The author analyzes the reliability of HVDC power transmission systems owned by State Grid Corp.of China since 2003 in respect of forced outage times,forced energy unavailability,scheduled energy unavailability and energy utilization efficiency.Different reliability indices of HVDC power transmission system interact one another,thus to implement the maximization of property benefit of the power grid it is necessary to build a scientific and reasonable reliability evaluation system.The results of analysis on reliability indices of HVDC power transmission systems home and abroad show that the reliability level of HVDC power transmission systems owned by State Power Grid Corp.of China is in the forefront in the world.
