TL;DR: In this paper, an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) was used to optimize the parameters of the power system stabilizer to enhance the damping of power system electromechanical transient model.
Abstract: The performance of traditional power system stabilizer (PSS) is evidently influenced by its parameters. To enhance the damping of power system electromechanical transient model, a new method to optimize the parameters of PSS is proposed. Based on two eigenvalue-based objective functions, the parameters of PSS are optimized by use of improved particle swarm optimization (PSO). The results of both eigenvalue analysis and nonlinear simulation show that the PSS with optimized parameters can effectively damp local and interarea oscillations and enhance the robustness of power system.

TL;DR: In this article, the reliability of HVDC power transmission systems owned by State Grid Corp.of China since 2003 in respect of forced outage times, forced energy unavailability, scheduled EH, and energy utilization efficiency is analyzed.
Abstract: Reliability level of HVDC power transmission systems becomes an important factor impacting entire power grid. The author analyzes the reliability of HVDC power transmission systems owned by State Grid Corp.of China since 2003 in respect of forced outage times, forced energy unavailability, scheduled energy unavailability and energy utilization efficiency.Different reliability indices of HVDC power transmission system interact one another, thus to implement the maximization of property benefit of the power grid it is necessary to build a scientific and reasonable reliability evaluation system. The results of analysis on reliability indices of HVDC power transmission systems home and abroad show that the reliability level of HVDC power transmission systems owned by State Power Grid Corp.of China is in the forefront in the world.

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of large-scale wind power integration on power system is studied by means of the dynamic modeling of wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and power system simulation containing large amounts of wind farms.
Abstract: The impact of large-scale wind power integration on power system is studied. By means of the dynamic modeling of wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and power system simulation containing large amounts of wind farms, the impact of wind power integration on grid voltage level and on transferred power of transmission line, the contribution of DFIG based wind turbines to short-circuit current and short-circuit capacity of the grid, the impact of wind power integration on power system transient stability are investigated. The simulation results show that the large-scale wind power integration may cause overload of transmission lines, increase of short-circuit capacity and change of power system transient stability. Corresponding countermeasures to handle above- mentioned issues emerged after the wind farm integration are recommended.
