Journal ArticleDOI
Escherichia coli HU protein suppresses DNA‐gyrase‐mediated illegitimate recombination and SOS induction
TL;DR: The HU protein is an abundant DNA binding protein of bacteria and is a major constituent of the bacterial nucleoid, and generally thought that a functional relationship exists between HUprotein and DNA gyrase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fis is required for illegitimate recombination during formation of lambda bio transducing phage.
TL;DR: It is concluded that Fis is required, but IHF is only partially required, for short-homology-dependent illegitimate recombination during the formation of lambda bio transducing phage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Suppression of gamma ray-induced illegitimate recombination in Escherichia coli by the DNA-binding protein H-NS.
TL;DR: The results suggest that types of DNA damage other than the double-strand breaks induced at random sites are mainly responsible for the introduction of the site-specific or region-specific DNA double strand breaks that lead to recombination at the hotspots.
