Journal ArticleDOI

Top/root biomass ratio of a secondary mangrove (Ceriops tagal (Perr.) C.B. Rob.) forest

TL;DR: To estimate the above-ground biomass of a Ceriops tagal forest, allometric relationships were examined using some variables relating to the stem diameter (DBH, DB) and length (H); the relationship for the stem weight of an individual tree was the most significant when the variable DBH2H was used.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prediction of recovery pathways of cyclone-disturbed mangroves in the mega delta of Myanmar

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the dynamics of post-cyclone mangrove vegetation in the Ayeyarwady Mega Delta of Myanmar and found that the recovery potential of specific species varied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of micro-landforms on forest structure, tree death and recruitment in a Japanese temperate mixed forest

TL;DR: In this paper, a 2.16-ha permanent plot was established in a temperate mixed forest and each 5'm'×'5'm quadrat within this plot was classified according to six types of micro-landform units: (i) crest slope (CS); (ii) upper sideslope (US); (iii) head hollow (HH); (iv) lower sideslopes (LS); (v) foot slope (FS); and (vi) river bed (RB).
Journal ArticleDOI

Mangrove Habitat Dynamics and Holocene Sea-level changes in the Southwestern Coast of Thailand.

TL;DR: The mangrove habitat dynamics during the mid to late Holocene in the southwestern coast of Thailand is clarified based on the relationships between ground level, sediments and present vegetation, spatial distribution ofMangrove forest-floor deposits and their formative periods and the influence of an anticipated sea-level rise.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mangrove Habitat Dynamics and Sea-level Change. A Scenario and GIS Mapping of the Changing Process of the Delta and Estuary Type Mangrove Habitat in Southwestern Thailand.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors revealed the structure of habitat dynamics and evaluated the effects of the rapid sea-level rise due to greenhouse effects based on the biogeomorphological, interdisciplinary field research in Thailand and Malaysia.
