Energy, which is the main agenda of our world, is crucially important for the people. Many countries frequently held meetings and discussions with energy agenda. These countries are working to balance the energy demand and supply. For finding the solution are researched, researches should be attempted to present a more efficient way to use energy as well as renewable energy resources effectively. Photovoltaic energy power systems take place as the most dominant source among renewable energy technologies. The most important reason is that it is unlimited and clean energy of the solar power systems. Many studies show that photovoltaic power systems will have an important share in the electricity of the future. In this study, to generate electricity from solar energy using photovoltaic systems have a leading position in some European countries, United States of America, China and Japan's current status and future policies will be analyzed in various comments were made.

Energy supply and its security issues have been the topic of interest lately. With growing environmental awareness about the negative implications brought by excessive usage of fossil fuels, the race for finding alternative energy as their substitutions is getting heated up. For now, renewable energy from biodiesel has been touted as one of the most promising substitutions for petroleum-derived diesel. Combustion of biodiesel as fuel is more environment-friendly while retaining most of the positive engine properties of petroleum-derived diesel. Production of biodiesel is also a proven technology with established commercialization activities. The huge potential of biodiesel coupled with the abundance of palm oil which is one of the most cost-effective feedstocks for biodiesel is responsible for the pledging of Malaysia to become the leading producer of high quality biodiesel in the region. Currently, total approved installed capacity of biodiesel production in Malaysia equals to almost 92% of the world biodiesel production output in 2008. While Malaysia does indeed possessed materials, technologies and marketing superiority to vie for that position, many more challenges are still awaiting. The price restriction, provisions controversy, escalating non-tariff trade barriers and negligible public support need to be addressed appropriately. In this review, Malaysia's previous and current position in global biodiesel market, its future potential towards the prominent leading biodiesel status and major disrupting obstacles are being discussed. The feasibility of utilizing algae as the up-and-coming biodiesel feedstock in Malaysia is also under scrutiny. Lastly, several recommendations on the roles played by three major forces in Malaysia's biodiesel industry are presented to tackle the shortcomings in achieving the coveted status by Malaysia. It is hope that Malaysia's progress in biodiesel industry will not only benefit itself but rather as the role model to catalyst the development of global biofuels industry as a whole.

A portfolio risk analysis on electricity supply planning

Biodiesel is one kind of biodegradable fuel. Substituting fossil diesel with biodiesel can reduce air emissions, increase the domestic energy supply, and create new markets for farmers. Further, generating biodiesel from energy crops cultivated on polluted farmlands can provide a solution for re-using polluted farmlands. This paper investigates the characteristics and benefits of biodiesel and its current status and development potential in Taiwan, identifies barriers to the adoption of biodiesel, and formulates key policy measures to achieve the target (i.e., 100 million liters per year by 2010 and 150 million liters by 2020) of the 2nd National Energy Conference. The results of this study show that the potential annual output of biodiesel can amount to 233–285 million liters, meaning that the goal of the second National Energy Conference could be achieved. However, there are many barriers to the practical adoption of biodiesel. Many issues (such as acquiring material sources, establishing a recycling system, defining economic and legal measures, and improving public acceptance and inter-ministry coordination mechanisms) must still be addressed to actively promote biodiesel utilization.

In Taiwan, having implemented some incentive measures and subsidies, some progress of renewable energy in Taiwan has occurred; however, comparing the medium and long-term target reveals a wide gap. This paper (taking the solar photovoltaic (PV) for example), applies the ‘technological system’ framework to analyze the evolution of PV in Taiwan. Here, a comparative analysis is made of the development of PV between Germany and Taiwan to understand what issues that policy makers should focus on PV utilization in Taiwan.
