Third generation of vortex identification methods: Omega and Liutex/Rortex based systems

TL;DR: Liutex/Rortex is a new physical quantity with scalar, vector and tensor forms exactly representing the local rigid rotation of fluids as mentioned in this paper, which can be considered as the second generation of vortex identification methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of methods for vortex identification in hydroturbines

TL;DR: A review of vortex identification methods for hydroturbines can be found in this paper, where the authors classified five different taxonomies based on five types of vortices (e.g. vortex rope in draft tube, Karman vortex, and inter-blade vortex) and discussed experimental techniques for vortex observation.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of rotating stall in reversible pump turbine

TL;DR: The reversible pump turbines in pumped hydro energy storage plant suffer great instability problems in the well-known S-shaped characteristic regions, leading to the failure of the reversible pump turbine as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review of microscopic interactions between cavitation bubbles and particles in silt-laden flow

TL;DR: In this article, a review of recent advances of cavitation inception on particles and microscopic interactions between bubbles and particles are reviewed and discussed, and the interaction mechanisms between cavitation bubbles and particle are demonstrated using experimental data obtained with a single particle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wind energy rejection in China: Current status, reasons and perspectives

TL;DR: In this article, the current status of the wind energy rejection (between 2010 and 2016) is reviewed with a detailed analysis of the reasons based on the statistical data released by the authorities, and two cases studies (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Gansu province respectively) are also performed to specify the reasons for the rejection and provide an in-depth discussion on the influences of related policies.
