Arabian Plate Hydrocarbon Geology and Potential—A Plate Tectonic Approach

Z. R. Beydoun
TL;DR: In the early Neogene period, the Levant margin became a col-lisional boundary and a new Levant margin becoming a transform boundary in the Neogene as mentioned in this paper, which allowed the almost uninterrupted accumulation of thick sediments over a vast area including extensive organic-rich source rock deposits as well as good reservoir and seal units.
Journal ArticleDOI

The red sea--gulf of aden: biostratigraphy, lithostratigraphy and palaeoenvironments

TL;DR: In this article, the Gulf of Aden rift complex through the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez is well constrained by biostratigraphy, and provides a new approach to the understanding of lithological variations within the region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sedimentary Basins of the Republic of Yemen : Their Structural Evolution and Geological Characteristics

TL;DR: The distribution and evolution of the sedimentary basins of Yemen was, until recently, poorly understood as this was based entirely on surface geology and correlations of the older stratigraphic units which were exposed only in the deeply dissected bordering uplifts of the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea or the high plateau of the north west.
Journal ArticleDOI

The hydrocarbon prospects of the red sea--gulf of aden: a review

TL;DR: The area reviewed in this article covers some 825,000 sq. kms, and since the early 1960s, 52 exploration wells have been drilled in the Red Sea, leading to four undeveloped (mainly gas-condensate and dry gas) discoveries.
