Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of elastic moduli of Kraft paper honeycomb core sandwich panels

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the influence of the thickness of the core and the skin on the stiffness of the sandwich panels and found that a decrease in the core to skin layer (shelling ratio) resulted in an increase in the modulus of elasticity and shear modulus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flexural creep behavior of sandwich panels containing Kraft paper honeycomb core and wood composite skins

TL;DR: In this article, a series of creep tests were carried out under a constant three-point bending, and the results showed that the flexural creep behavior of the sandwich panel is affected by honeycomb core shape, core and skin thickness, and skin material type.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monitoring the fracture of wood in torsion using acoustic emission

TL;DR: In this article, acoustic emission (AE) was used to monitor the failure process of hardwood and softwood test-pieces under static and fatigue torsional loading, and the results showed that it is possible to monitor and analyze the failure processes in wood when under torsion loading using acoustic emission techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of mechanical properties of sandwich panels made of paper honeycomb core and wood composite skins by experimental testing and finite element (FE) modelling methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of structural parameters, including core shape, cell size, core density, core and web thickness, and material properties of the core and skin layers on the mechanical behavior of these lightweight sandwich panels were studied by experimental testing and finite element modeling methods.

Effects of furnish parameters on concentrated static load (CSL) and related properties of oriented strandboard

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of oriented strandboard (OSB) furnish properties, including strand length, width, thickness, and surface orientation, on the concentrated static load (CSL) and other mechanical properties of OSB were evaluated using a mixed level experimental design.
