Journal ArticleDOI

Sulfakinins reduce food intake in the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria.

TL;DR: Insect sulfakinins, peptides which display substantial sequence similarities with the vertebrate gastrin/CCK peptide family, significantly inhibit food uptake in fifth instar nymphs of the locust, Schistocerca gregaria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Newly discovered functions for some myotropic neuropeptides in locusts.

TL;DR: The recently discovered in vivo effects of some of the myotropic peptides, identified in locusts in the past decade, are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

The ecdysoid RH5849 induces yolk polypeptide synthesis in male flies

TL;DR: RH5849, upon oral ingestion, is able to induce vitellogenin synthesis in male Drosophila, Neobellieria, Phormia and Lucilia, which contrasts to data in the literature which showed that RH5849 could not mimic the pupariation-inducing effect of ecdysone in last instar fly larvae.
