Journal ArticleDOI
Kinetics and mechanism of nucleophilic displacements with heterocycles as leaving groups. 26. Collisionally activated dissociation of N-alkylpyridinium cations to pyridine and alkyl cations in the gas phase
TL;DR: La dissociation activee par collisions de Nalkylpyridiniums en phase gazeuse donne la pyridine et les carbocations correspondants as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrostatic Interactions and Conformations of Zwitterionic Pyridinium Alkanoates
Magdalena Szafran,Zofia Dega-Szafran,Andrzej Katrusiak,Grzegorz Buczak,Tadeusz Głowiak,Jerzy Sitkowski,L. Stefaniak +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, flexible zwitterionic ω-pyridinium alkanoates (PBn) with n methylene units in the tether and their hydrates and hydrochlorides are studied in the solid state by X-ray diffraction, in aqueous solution by FT-IR and 1H,13C, and 14N NMR spectroscopies, and in the gas phase by PM3, SAM1, and DFT calculations.
Journal ArticleDOI
UV, 1H and 13C NMR spectra, and AM1 studies of protonation of aminopyridines
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of single and double protonation on the NMR spectra of 2-, 3-, and 4-aminopyridines and their N-methyl and N,N-dimethyl derivatives was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strong hydrogen bonds in 1:1 and 2:1 complexes of pyridine betaine with strong acids☆
Zofia Dega-Szafran,Maria Gdaniec,Monika Grundwald-Wyspiańska,Iwona Kowalczyk,Mirosław Szafran +4 more
TL;DR: The crystal structure of bis(pyridine betaine) hydrochloride-d 1 monohydrate-d 2 has been determined by X-ray analysis as mentioned in this paper, where the carboxylate groups of a pair of pyridine betsaine molecules are bridged by a deuteron to form a centro-symmetric dimer featuring a very strong hydrogen bond of length 2.444(4) A.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chlorine-35 nuclear quadrupole resonance and infrared spectroscopic studies of hydrogen bonding in complexes of dichloroacetic acid with nitrogen and oxygen bases: correlation of spectroscopic properties with proton affinity and aqueous pKa
B. Nogaj,Ewa Dulewicz,Bogumił Brycki,A. Hrynio,Piotr Barczyński,Zofia Dega-Szafran,Mirosław Szafran,Piotr. Koziol,Alan R. Katritzky +8 more
TL;DR: Proton affinities (PA) calculated for 57 compounds by the AM1 method, show no general overall correlation with pK a values, but individual classes of bases displayed significant trends.
