Reducing procrastination using a smartphone-based treatment program: A randomized controlled pilot study

This study aims to identify the level of academic procrastination among a group of students and its correlation with parenting styles. A sample of 685 male and female undergraduate students was chosen from many different faculties at the Hashemite University. Two questionnaires; academic procrastination and parenting styles, were administrated to members of the sample during the academic year 2013/2014. Results indicated that few students (7%) showed a high level of academic procrastination, over half of the students (67%) showed a medium level and approximately a quarter of students (26%) showed a low level of academic procrastination, there was no significant differences between male and female in academic procrastination scores. Final results indicated a significant positive correlation between academic procrastination and parenting styles.

The Relationship Between Academic Procrastination and Parenting Styles Among Jordanian Undergraduate University Students

This study is the first to address student evaluation of faculty members (SFE) from a student perspective at a major Jordanian public university using a comprehensive (71-item) questionnaire administered to 620 undergraduates. Addressed are students’ perceptions of the SFE process in terms of: (a) their paper-based vs. online-format preferences; (b) their beliefs about the process; (c) the standards they adopt in the evaluation; (d) the fruitfulness of SFE outcomes; and (e) their opinions about the evaluation instruments currently used at their institutions. It also explores whether students’ beliefs vary according to their gender, GPA and college (Educational Sciences vs. Sciences). The results reveal that most students prefer online evaluation, adopt academic rather than interpersonal criteria in their evaluation, have a low level of satisfaction with the impact of previous evaluations on faculty teaching behaviours and the evaluation instruments used at their institution. Student faculty evaluation (SFE) at Jordanian universities: a student perspective

This study aimed to examine the correlation between optimism - pessimism and personality traits (extraversion, introversion, emotional stability and neuroticism), also aimed to identify the prevalence of optimism and pessimism in the study sample according to the variable sex, academic specialization, level of study, and grade point average. The study sample consisted of (534) students among undergraduate students enrolled in the Hashemite University during the summer semester 2010/2011. Results of study revealed that: A positive correlation relationship and statistically significant between optimism and introversion. Statistically significant positive correlation relationship between pessimism emotional equilibrium, and the pessimism emotion. Statistically significant negative correlation relationship between pessimism and extraversion, and between pessimism and introversion. Differ in the prevalence of optimism in three levels (high, moderate, and low) according to the variables sex, area of study, level of study, and grade point average. Different ratios of the three levels is widespread pessimism (high, moderate, and low) according to the variables sex, area of study, level of study, and grade point average. Statistically significant differences between males and females in the prevalence of trait optimism in favor of male students. The differences are statistically significant at the level of significance (0.05) between the academic level (first, second, third, and fourth) in the trait of optimism for the benefit of students who are in the level of the first, second, and third year. The presence of significance interaction between sex and grade point average on a feature of pessimism. The Relationship between Optimism-Pessimism and Personality Traits among Students in the Hashemite University

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between parenting styles and adult attachment styles. A random sample of (564) male and female students at the faculty of educational sciences was chosen selected. Two questionnaires on attachment styles and parenting styles were administered to the selected sample population during the academic year of 2012-2013. Results indicated significant positive correlations between the authoritative, negligent and authoritarian parenting styles and secure, anxious-ambivalent and avoidant attachment styles, and negative correlation between negligent and anxious-ambivalent, redundant protection and secure. Results also indicate that parenting styles explain attachment styles and patterning styles predict two subdimensions of attachment styles.
