Proceedings ArticleDOI

An efficient short messages transmission in cellular networks

TL;DR: The proposed LAMA/CA protocol is more stable, and much more efficient for transmitting SMS messages and signaling messages, than the existing method currently used in cellular networks, and superior to a collision-free protocol that uses a request to send (RTS) and clear to sent (CTS) mechanism, over the range of packet lengths.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient multicast search under delay and bandwidth constraints

TL;DR: This study identifies the key factors affecting the search efficiency, and the dependency between them and the search delay, and proposes a search method that is not optimal, but has a low computational complexity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Popularity-based caching for IPTV services over P2P networks

TL;DR: The proposed distributed popularity-based caching scheme can significantly increase the performance of P2P networks used for video streaming, with respect to the existing networks, that use the LRU or LFU schemes.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Establishing a mobile conference call under delay and bandwidth constraints

TL;DR: This study identifies the key factors affecting the search efficiency, and the dependency between them and the search delay, and proposes a search method that is not optimal, but has a low computational complexity.
Journal IssueDOI

Multicast video streaming for 4G wireless networks: Research Articles

TL;DR: Analytical and simulation results show that TAR significantly improves video quality and saves channel bandwidth, and a preliminary software-based implementation of TAR is described to demonstrate the practicality of the proposed approach.
