TL;DR: In this article, the output from the flip-flop is used to alternately control the individual ones of the integrators to operate in response to an analog input signal so as to produce an output signal from the flipsop which has a frequency in accordance with the input signal.
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a voltage-controlled oscillator using a pair of integrators coupled to a pair of voltage comparators and wherein the outputs of the voltage comparators control a flip-flop. The output from the flip-flop is used to alternately control the individual ones of the integrators to operate in response to an analog input signal so as to produce an output signal from the flip-flop which has a frequency in accordance with the input signal to the integrators. In addition, the invention includes the use of a feed forward signal which is coupled to the comparators to control the time of operation of the comparators to compensate for fixed delays in the system.

Abstract: The relative rates of addition of difluorocarbene to a series of methyl-substituted olefins have been determined and correlated with similar data for dichlorocarbene, chlorofluorocarbene and ground-state oxygen atoms. The electrophilic nature and stabilization of difluorocarbene by the fluorine substituents is discussed. Relative activation energies for the difluorocyclopropane-forming reaction have been estimated and correlated with properties of the olefins as derived from molecular orbital theory.

TL;DR: In this article, an improvement in method and apparatus for identifying at a remote position conductors in a multiconductor means having the conductors identified at one end is described, characterized by sequentially stepping by control signals from the remote position a sequential stepping switch onto contacts to which the identified conductors at the one end are connected.
Abstract: This specification discloses an improvement in method and apparatus for identifying at a remote position conductors in a multiconductor means having the conductors identified at one end. The improvement is characterized by sequentially stepping by control signals from the remote position a sequential stepping switch onto contacts to which the identified conductors at the one end are connected, until a specifically identified conductor is connected with the sequential stepping switch. Thereafter, an identifiable signal is put on the specifically identified conductor and the conductor carrying the signal at the remote position is identified. The invention is particularly described with respect to repairing a telephone cable, or reconnecting groups of wire pairs from one cable to another in a telephone line system. In such telephonic work, ordinarily, it is advantageous to employ a second sequential switching device in conjunction with the sequential stepping switch to be able to monitor a pair of conductors, or wires, and to thereafter check out each individual wire of the pair. Also, disclosed is a field monitor unit to assist the repairman in maintaining a record of the particular conductor onto which the sequential stepping switch has been actuated. Other aspects are also described; such as, a flip-flop mode of operation in which correlated pairs of wires in a multiwire cable are identified for immediate changing of wires in a group with consequent lessening of chance of error.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that linear polymeric esters can shrink at least 21/2 times as much along one of the longitudinal and transverse axes of the films and tubing as they do along the other.
Abstract: Heat-shrinkable films and heat-shrinkable tubing of linear polymeric esters that shrink at least 21/2 times as much along one of the longitudinal and transverse axes of the films and tubing as they do along the other. The films and tubing shrink between 2 and 20 percent in the direction of least shrinkage and at least 20 percent in the direction of most shrinkage. A film of the invention is prepared by stretching it in a first direction at a temperature that is above the second order transition temperature for the polymer of the film, then thermally conditioning the film while it is in the stretched condition by heating it for several seconds at a temperature that is at least 5 DEG C. above the first temperature, and then stretching the film in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction at a temperature at least 5 DEG C. above the first temperature.

TL;DR: In this article, a metallurgically integral tube of shaped sintered powdered metal having at least one end closed is constructed by first extruding a clay-like mixture of powdered metal and a heat fugitive binder into the shape of a tube, then extruding from said mixture a rod-like plug and inserting the plug into the end of the tube.
Abstract: A metallurgically integral tube of shaped sintered powdered metal having at least one end closed. A green structure of the tube is formed by first extruding a clay-like mixture of powdered metal and a heat fugitive binder into the shape of a tube, then extruding from said mixture a rod-like plug and inserting the plug into the end of the tube. The closed-end green structure can also be made by causing the tubular extrusion output to converge against a plate, thereby closing the end of the tube. The shaped green structure is then sintered in a reducing atmosphere to produce the closed end, integral tube.

Abstract: A laminate preferably consisting of a 25-250 mil-thick sandwich having a microsphere-filled elastomeric core (derived from a hollow, particulate filler and an elastomer such as polyurethane with a stress at 100 percent elongation of 500-4,000 psi) and two 1-10 mil high tensile-strength (stress at 2 percent elongation above 10,000 psi) skins provides a paneling material with, for example, good corrosion and impact resistance. The hollow, particulate filler loading is 20-65 volume percent of the core; and the flexural composite modulus of the sandwich-type laminate is in the range of 0.5-4 X 105 psi; and the density can range from about 0.5 to about 1.0 g./cm3. These laminates have a wide variety of constructional, decorative, and insulative uses. Somewhat stiffer and thicker laminates can be provided by using more than one core alternating with a plurality of skins.

Abstract: This invention is a low-cost microfilm reader printer which uses sheet form print material. The invention utilizes a sheet-feeding mechanism having a compressible dispensing roll in contact with one end of a stack of sheet print material, and a guide-disposed adjacent the periphery of the roller. When rotated, the dispensing roller separates sheet in the stack and feeds successive sheets between the roller and the guide approximately 180* around the roller and directs the dispensed sheet to an exposure station above and parallel to the storage area. Subsequent to exposure, the exposed sheet is advanced to a developer.
