TL;DR: Light is thrown on fundamental pathways by which pollutants interact with the behaviour of fishes and in feeding, aggression and comfort behaviour of the fish.
Abstract: Experiments were carried out to study the feeding rates of the predator fish Therapon jarbua (Forsk) on mullet juveniles, before and after treatment with DDT. Mullet juveniles treated with a subacute concentration, were refused by the control predators, whereas predators treated with a subacute concentration consumed more mullet juveniles. In the present study crescent perch T. jarbua were exposed to subacute and acute concentrations of DDT, and their behaviour was compared with that of the control predators. There were changes in oriented behaviour and co-ordinated movements, and in feeding, aggression and comfort behaviour of the fish. Inflammation in the gills, and caudal fin serration, were noticed in treated fishes. The findings presented here throw light on fundamental pathways by which pollutants interact with the behaviour of fishes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present two n-unit warm standby systems, where the operating unit has Erlang failure time and the repair time of a failed unit is general, and the main paper describes the models and a Supplement presents the integral equations and Laplace transforms of the availability and reliability.
Abstract: This paper presents two n-unit warm standby systems. In model 1, the operating unit has Erlang failure time and the repair time of a failed unit is general. Model 2 treats the case when the operating unit has general failure time and the failed unit has Erlang repair time. The main paper describes the models and a Supplement presents the integral equations and Laplace transforms of the availability and reliability. Renewal theory is used to set up the equations.

TL;DR: As the plants aged, the quantity of phenolics exuded by the roots was reduced and there was a parallel increase in the Rhizobium population in the rhizospheres of the three plant species.
Abstract: A study of the colonization pattern of Rhizobium inoculated either in the soil or on to the seeds of green gram ( Phaseolus aureus Roxb.), black gram ( P. mungo L.) and sun hemp ( Crotalaria juncea L.) revealed a significant reduction of Rhizobium in the spermosphere of sun hemp which was attributed to excretion of phenolic compounds by the seed. As the plants aged, the quantity of phenolics exuded by the roots was reduced and there was a parallel increase in the Rhizobium population in the rhizospheres of the three plant species.

TL;DR: The Laplace transform of the integral equations for the availability are given using renewal theory to consider a 2-unit parallel system that has general failure and general repair distributions.
Abstract: This paper considers a 2-unit parallel system. One unit has general failure and general repair distributions and the other has Erlang failure and Erlang repair distributions. The Laplace transform of the integral equations for the availability are given using renewal theory.

Abstract: An attempt has been made to solve the assignment problem for the e' species of some XY5 type molecules using Redington's method. The observed mean vibrational amplitudes were used to check the assignment.

TL;DR: An attempt has been made to apply Green's function and partitioning technique to the case of XY2Z (ClO2F) pyramidal type molecule belonging to C, point group as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An attempt has been made to apply Green’s function and partitioning technique to the case of XY2Z (ClO2F) pyramidal type molecule belonging toC, point group. The isotopic rules have been formulated. The force constants, rotation distortion constants and mean amplitude of vibration have been computed and compared with other observed and calculated values whichever is available.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mass spectral analysis of the mineral constituents of the flag leaves of some varieties of rice, Ponni, IR-26, IRRI-50, and TKM-6, which are highly resistant to the brown spot disease Cercospora oryzae and Kanchi, Karuna, Kannagi, and Co-25, were carried out.
Abstract: Mass spectral analysis of the mineral constituents of the flag leaves of some varieties of rice, Ponni, IR-26, IRRI-50, and TKM-6, which are highly resistant to the brown spot disease Cercospora oryzae and Kanchi, Karuna, Kannagi, and Co-25, which are highly susceptible to the same disease, was carried out. The elements present in the flag leaves of the rice varieties were classified into major elements viz., Si, K, Ca, P, and Mg and microelements viz., B, Na, Al, Cl, Cr, Fe, Mn, Co, Cu, Zn, As, Br, Rb, Sr, Mo, Ag, Ba, and Pb. It is found that the amount of Fe, Ca, Sr, Pb, and Ag is greater in susceptible varieties while the quantity of K is low in these samples.
