Abstract: In India, where most of the people are vegetarians, the role of vegetables in the dietary is of great importance. They are considered to be rich sources of vitamins, proteins and minerals including trace minerals. There seems to be an acute shortage of vegetables in this country, specially at this juncture when the population is growing fast. It will be highly desirable to find out cheap and easily available substitutes for the common seasonal vegetables.

Abstract: An analysis of the modulation of an electromagnetic wave propagating through a magnetoplasma disturbed by an acoustic wave has been given. The analysis of the modulation of the transmitted and reflected waves from the boundary between the magnetoplasma and free space has also been given. Numerical calculations have been made to study the variation of modulation with electron density, collision frequency, magnetic field, acoustic power and distance from the acoustic wave source.
