TL;DR: In this article, the inherent limitations of commanding voltages and currents in a three-phase load with an inverter are examined, and an overview of several current controllers described in the literature is presented, and computer simulations are used to compare performance.
Abstract: The inherent limitations of commanding voltages and currents in a three-phase load with an inverter are examined. An overview of several current controllers described in the literature is presented, and computer simulations are used to compare performance. A switching diagram is developed which reveals some of the operating characteristics of hysteresis controllers. For ramp comparison controllers, a frequency transfer function analysis is used to predict the line currents and provide some insight into the compensation required to reduce the current errors.

14 Feb 1994TL;DR: In this paper, a power transmitting assembly includes a first rotatable assembly, a second rotating member and an axially movable rotating member, a camming assembly for moving the rotating member.
Abstract: A power transmitting assembly includes a first rotatable assembly, a second rotatable assembly having an axially movable rotating member, a camming assembly for moving the rotating member and an electromagnetic clutch for activating the camming assembly. The rotating member is moved between a first position where the first rotatable assembly operatively engages the second rotatable assembly and a second position where the first rotatable assembly is disengaged from the second rotatable assembly. The power transmitting assembly is shown in three forms--a locking hub assembly, a lockable differential assembly and axle assembly having an axle disconnect.

15 Sep 1994TL;DR: In this article, a synchronizer assembly for a manual transmission is described, including a shiftable clutch sleeve that is engageable with at least one spring element secured to the synchronizer blocker ring.
Abstract: A synchronizer clutch assembly for a manual transmission comprising a synchronizer hub carried by a torque delivery shaft and including a cone clutch member carried by a gear forming a part of the transmission gearing and a synchronizer blocker ring adapted to be made of forged steel, the synchronizer assembly including a shiftable clutch sleeve that is engageable with at least one spring element secured to the synchronizer blocker ring whereby the blocker ring cone clutch frictionally engages the cone clutch of the gear upon movement of the sleeve toward an engagement position until the rotary motion of the gear is brought into synchronism with the rotary motion of the shaft.

17 May 1993TL;DR: In this article, an on-demand vehicle drive system monitors vehicle performance and operating conditions and controls torque delivery to the vehicle wheels, including a plurality of speed and position sensors, a transfer case having primary and secondary output shafts driving primary and primary axles and a microcontroller.
Abstract: An on demand vehicle drive system monitors vehicle performance and operating conditions and controls torque delivery to the vehicle wheels. The system includes a plurality of speed and position sensors, a transfer case having primary and secondary output shafts driving primary and secondary axles and a microcontroller. The sensors include a vehicle speed sensor, a pair of primary and secondary drive shaft speed sensors, and brake and driveline status sensors. The transfer case includes a modulating electromagnetic clutch controlled by the microcontroller which is incrementally engaged to transfer torque from the primary output shaft to the secondary output shaft. When the speed of either the front or the rear drive shafts overruns, i.e., exceeds, the speed of the other drive shaft by a predetermined value related to the vehicle speed, indicating that wheel slip is present, clutch current is incrementally increased to increase clutch engagement and torque transfer to the secondary axle. When wheel slip is reduced below the predetermined value the current to the clutch is incrementally reduced. The method of operating such a system is also described.
