TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used bivariate GARCH (1,1) model for both CNX bank nifty and nifty futures and found that there persist long-run relationship between the spot and futures prices and thus returns.
Abstract: CNX bank nifty trading performance represents the state of Indian banking sector and thereby evaluates the socio-economic objectives. Using bivariate GARCH (1,1) model for both CNX bank nifty and nifty futures this study found that there persist long-run relationship between the spot and futures prices and thus returns. Here, this study calculated the futures prices with the usual cost of carry model considering the call rate as the proxy for the financing rate. This study also found that the hedge ratios for both the index futures are negative and caused the market as imperfect one. In this situation, investment decision requires the optimal investment preferences and choices with resource generations and diversifications. The study confirms that there is a long run relationship between the spot and futures prices and hence returns exist for both the index futures.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the regional disparities in the background and existence of the role of social banking and observed that the regional disparity in terms of per capita net district domestic product exists in spite of the increasing credit distributions to all areas.
Abstract: In the context of wide regional disparities emerging in the process of development, the banks have an additional responsibility in India. That responsibility is to enter the under developed regions and to mobilize and channelize resources into local economic activities such that local development is promoted. In this context and using simple descriptive statistics method, this study analyzes the regional disparities in the background and existence of the role of ‘social banking’. The study observes that the regional disparity in terms of per capita net district domestic product exists in spite of the increasing credit distributions to all areas. Surprisingly, this happens even with the consideration of usual socio-economic factors. Therefore, it feels that the future research may explore more on the ‘social banking’ addressing regional disparities issues.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors attempted to identify important determinants of FDI inflow for the selected high-income countries (23 countries) since 1990 based on a related review of literature, six variables (Outflow, GDP, BOP, Export, Import and Labor) have been selected.
Abstract: The marked rise of FDI ?ows to high-income countries since the early 1990s has prompted substantial empirical research into the important determinants of FDI. This paper also has attempted to identify important determinants of FDI inflow for the selected high-income countries (23 countries) since 1990. Based on the related review of literature, six variables (Outflow, GDP, BOP, Export, Import and Labor) have been selected. Employing adding-up/multiple regression models, significant determinants were identified.

Abstract: The hedging effectiveness for bank futures and CNX nifty are evaluated in this study. The study is based on 9569 observations of the daily data for these index futures. For evaluation OLS, co-integrated OLS, GARCH (1, 1) and constant correlation GARCH (1, 1) hedging methods are estimated and compared. Result shows that constant correlation GARCH (1, 1) is an efficient hedging method that maximizes investors’ utility function considering transaction costs. Therefore, investors can rely on this constant correlation GARCH (1, 1) hedging method.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the nature, determinants and extent of alcoholism with its burden on the society and suggest that standard of living index and education will help to reduce alcoholism and its burden in the society irrespective of productive age, targeted areas, social groups, and gender classifications.
Abstract: This paper discusses the nature, determinants and extent of alcoholism with its burden on the society. The logit and multi-logit models are used for the data analysis based on a qualitative survey method. Findings suggest that standard of living index and education will help to reduce alcoholism and its burden in the society irrespective of productive age, targeted areas, social groups, and gender classifications. Policies should be targeted on these factors to have a rational and welfare-oriented society.
