TL;DR: In this article, the effects of such parameters as temperature (200-600°C), duration of roasting (15-120 min), and amount of ammonium sulfate (0.5-2.5 times stoichiometric) have been studied.
Abstract: Copper converter slag, provided by Ergani Copper Co. of Etibank and containing 2.56% copper and 0.22% cobalt, was roasted with ammonium sulfate. The effects of such parameters as temperature (200–600°C), duration of roasting (15–120 min), and amount of ammonium sulfate (0.5–2.5 times stoichiometric) have been studied. Under optimum conditions (slag size, − 100 mesh; stoichiometric requirement of ammonium sulfate; roasting temperature of 400°C for 60 min), we obtained 88% Cu and 67% Co by extraction. Similar studies were carried out with concentrated sulfuric acid. The influence of experimental variables such as roasting temperature (25–300°C), roasting period (30–120 min), and amount of sulfuric acid (0.5–2 times stoichiometric) has been studied. Under atmospheric conditions, i.e., at 200°C and a roasting period of 60 min with 1.5 times the stoichiometric amount of sulfuric acid, recoveries of copper and cobalt were 82 and 96%, respectively.

TL;DR: Three patients who harbored primary ectopic epidural meningioma arising in the right occipital, parietal and left frontal region protruding extracranially through destructed calvarium and also developing intracranially without dural involvement are reported.
Abstract: Meningiomas should be considered as a possible diagnosis when dealing with tumors of the head and neck, even though these lesions may be located outside the cranial cavity. We report three patients who harbored primary ectopic epidural meningioma arising in the right occipital, parietal and left frontal region protruding extracranially through destructed calvarium and also developing intracranially without dural involvement. The diagnostic value of CT scan is emphasized and the relevant literature on ectopic meningioma is reviewed.

TL;DR: Twelve patients with cranial defects restored with single-table calvarial autografts which comprised the outer table of the calvarium and which were removed from the same area on the opposite of the skull vault or immediately adjacent to the cranial defect.
Abstract: Summary We present data from 12 patients with cranial defects restored with single-table calvarial autografts which comprised the outer table of the calvarium and which were removed from the same area on the opposite of the skull vault or immediately adjacent to the cranial defect. Trauma (nine patients), congenital malformation (two patients) and operation (one patient) accounted for the cranial defects. The follow-up period has been 6 to 30 months. No bone resorption or infection occurred during that time. Only in two cases was there slight depression at the recipient site; no revision was necessary.

TL;DR: From this in vitro study, it can be suggested that for selected endodontically treated maxillary premolar teeth, the dentist can use acid-etch-retained posterior composite resin or pin- retained high copper amalgam material for a definitive coronal-radicular restoration.
Abstract: Palatal cusps of nonvital maxillary premolar teeth were restored with a coronal-radicular restoration of posterior composite resin (Occlusin), amalgam (Tytin), or cermet (Chelon-Silver). Mean fracture strength values were: 370 lb for intact premolar teeth, 266 lb for amalgam, 215 lb for posterior composite resin, and 132 lb for cermet. From this in vitro study it can be suggested that for selected endodontically treated maxillary premolar teeth, the dentist can use acid-etch-retained posterior composite resin or pin-retained high copper amalgam material for a definitive coronal-radicular restoration. The use of cermet for this purpose is contraindicated.

TL;DR: In this article, the experimental data of 3-hydroxyphenol (resorsine) agree with predicted isotherm calculated by the Hansen-Facker modification of Polanyi Adsorption Potential Theory, using only the solute refractive index and molar volume, together with characteristic curve for the carbon as determined from gas phase adsorption data.
Abstract: Adsorbtion isotherms, from water solution onto activated carbon have been determined over a wide consantration range for phenol and some its derivatives. At the first look, it was observed that the experimental data of 3-hydroxyphenol (resorsine) agree with predicted isotherm calculated by the Hansen-Facker modification of Polanyi Adsorption Potential Theory, using only the solute refractive index and molar volume, together with characteristic curve for the carbon as determined from gas-phase adsorption data but, 4-nitrophenol isotherm agree with the theoretical isotherm after correction for its hydration and corrected experimental curves of phenol, 2, 4-dinitrophenol and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol appear to be related to the theoretical isotherm by single abscissa scale factor.

TL;DR: The results suggest that calcium is important in gastric pathophysiology and that the proof of gastroprotective effects of calcium channel blockers is of great value in the development of new and improved therapies for treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers in humans.
Abstract: The effects of nitrendipine on stress-induced acute gastric lesions were investigated in rats. Intraperitoneally injected nitrendipine (8, 16, or 32 mg/kg) given 30 min before stress, dose-dependently prevented gastric glandular ulceration. The anti-ulcer effects of nitrendipine were not reversible by indometacin or dexamethasone. These results suggest that calcium is important in gastric pathophysiology and that the proof of gastroprotective effects of calcium channel blockers is of great value in the development of new and improved therapies for treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers in humans.

Abstract: A vesico-diverticular fistula in a 4-year-old child is described. Histologically, the diverticulum showed normal mucosal epithelium without ectopic mucosa. The literature is reviewed and possible explanations of fistula formation are discussed.

TL;DR: Napkin dermatitis, which generally occurs on the convex side of perianal region and is recovered by antiseptic application, is a regional dermatitis and although the etiopathogenesis is unknown, it is believed that Candida plays an important role in napkin dermatritis.
Abstract: Napkin dermatitis, which generally occurs on the convex side of perianal region and is recovered by antiseptic application, is a regional dermatitis1. Although the etiopathogenesis is unknown, it is believed that Candida plays an important role in napkin dermatitis. Candida grows in the diaper area in wet and airless conditions 2. It is claimed that Candida originates from the gastrointestinal system (GIS), a reservoire 3.
