TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated whether Rosa canina fruit extract (RCFE) could be used as a natural antioxidant to extend the shelf life of mayonnaise and found that RCFE had high levels of total phenols content (52.06 ± 1.14 mg GAE g−1), total flavonoids content (26.31 ± 1), and free radical scavenging activity.
Abstract: The oxidation of food emulsions causes rancidity, which reduces their shelf life. To prevent rancidity, synthetic antioxidants are widely used in the food industry. However, due to their potential health risks, researchers are exploring natural alternatives. This study aimed to investigate whether Rosa canina fruit extract (RCFE) could be used as a natural antioxidant to extend the shelf life of mayonnaise. Mayonnaise containing varying concentrations of RCFE [0.125% (T1), 0.25% (T2), 0.50% (T3), 0.75% (T4)] was compared to a mayonnaise control sample (C1) and a mayonnaise sample containing 0.02% BHT (C2) for 60 days of storage at 4 °C. RCFE was found to have high levels of total phenols content (52.06 ± 1.14 mg GAE g−1), total flavonoids content (26.31 ± 1.03 mg QE g−1), and free radical scavenging activity. The GC–MS analysis of RCFE revealed 39 different peaks, whereas the HPLC analysis showed the presence of 13 polyphenolic compounds in RCFE. The pH values of T2, T3, and T4 mayonnaise samples substantially declined as storage progressed; however, the reduction was less than that of C1 and C2. After 60 days, mayonnaise samples T2, T3, and T4 had greatly reduced peroxide and free fatty acid levels compared to C1 and C2. The mayonnaise enriched with RCFE (T3 and T4) had the most potent antioxidative ability and the lowest value of lipid hydroperoxides (peroxide value, POV) and the lowest value of thiobarbituric-acid-reactive substances (TBARS). The sensory evaluation revealed that the T3 sample exhibited the highest overall acceptability. In conclusion, this study recommends that RCFE could be used as a natural preservative to enhance the shelf life of functional foods.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors tried to answer which type of gravity field signals at which resolution for filling the gaps would give the best geoid determination precision, and the computed geoid precision for each case has been determined through the least-squares collocation technique.
Abstract: The coverage of the gravity data plays an important role in the geoid determination process. Still some parts in the world have poor gravity data coverage, with sometimes, large data gaps. Egypt (representing the situation in Africa) has sparse gravity data coverage over relatively large area. This paper tries to answer which type of gravity field signals at which resolution for filling the gaps would give the best geoid determination precision. This outcome is essential for the IAG sub-commission on the gravity and geoid in Africa in order to determine the African geoid with the best possible precision. Different types of gravity field signals have been used. They are gravity, geoid undulation and deflections of the vertical. Different resolutions of these signals are tested. The computed geoid precision for each case has been determined through the least-squares collocation technique (Moritz 1980). The results are shown and comprehensively discussed.

TL;DR: In this article , a simplified direct power control (DPC) of DFIGs in stationary reference frame under normal and unbalanced grid voltage is presented, where sequence decomposition process, axes transformation and compensation power terms are totally eliminated.
Abstract: Undesired oscillation components appear in active and reactive powers, electromagnetic torque and DC-link voltage of doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) connected to unbalanced grid voltage. These components oscillate at double source frequency as a result of negative sequence components in voltage and current. Different direct power control (DPC) techniques were studied in literatures to damp these oscillations. However, these techniques require sequence decomposition process, axes transformation of stator voltage/current and estimation of different power components which complicate the overall control system. This paper presents a simplified DPC of DFIGs in stationary reference frame under normal and unbalanced grid voltage. Decomposition process, axes transformation and compensation power terms are totally eliminated. Vector proportional- integral (VPI) controllers are designed to regulate stator active and reactive powers. The performance of the proposed DPC scheme using VPI and proportional-integral-resonant (PIR) controllers is analyzed and compared under different operating conditions. Bode diagram of open loop and closed loop control using VPI and PIR are studied to illustrate stability, steady state and transient response of the two controllers. Also, the performance of proposed technique and previous DPCs designed in synchronous reference frame is compared to prove the validity of proposed one. The results show that proposed DPC using VPI has superior performance in steady state and transient conditions with simple implementation.

Abstract: With the emergence of the covid 19 pandemic, E-learning usage was the only way to solve the problem of study interruption in educational institutions and universities. Therefore, this field reserved significant attention in current times. In this paper, we used ten Machine Learning (ML) algorithms: Decision Tree(DT), Random Forest(RF), Logistic Regression(LR), SGD Classifier, Multinomial NB, K- Nearest Neighbors Classifier(KNN), Ridge Classifier, Nearest Centroid, Complement NB and Bernoulli NB) to build a prediction system based on artificial intelligence techniques to predict the difficulties students face in using the e-learning management system, to support related decision-making. Which, in turn, contributes supporting the sustainable development of technology at the university. From the results obtained, we detect the important factors that affect the use of E-learning to solve students’ learning difficulties using LMS by building a prediction system based on AI techniques.

TL;DR: In this paper , a site-specific delivery of blackberry leaves extract (BBE) loaded AgNPs to the hepatocyte in IRI and to verify possible molecular mechanisms was achieved.
Abstract: Liver ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a pathophysiological insult that often occurs during liver surgery. Blackberry leaves are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. Aims: To achieve site-specific delivery of blackberry leaves extract (BBE) loaded AgNPs to the hepatocyte in IRI and to verify possible molecular mechanisms. Methods: IRI was induced in male Wister rats. Liver injury, hepatic histology, oxidative stress markers, hepatic expression of apoptosis-related proteins were evaluated. Non-targeted metabolomics for chemical characterization of blackberry leaves extract was performed. Key findings: Pre-treatment with BBE protected against the deterioration caused by I/R, depicted by a significant improvement of liver functions and structure, as well as reduction of oxidative stress with a concomitant increase in antioxidants. Additionally, BBE promoted phosphorylation of antiapoptotic proteins; PI3K, Akt and mTOR, while apoptotic proteins; Bax, Casp-9 and cleaved Casp-3 expressions were decreased. LC-HRMS-based metabolomics identified a range of metabolites, mainly flavonoids and anthocyanins. Upon comprehensive virtual screening and molecular dynamics simulation, the major annotated anthocyanins, cyanidin and pelargonidin glucosides, were suggested to act as PLA2 inhibitors. Significance: BBE can ameliorate hepatic IRI augmented by BBE-AgNPs nano-formulation via suppressing, oxidative stress and apoptosis as well as stimulation of PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway.

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors counterargue a claim that was recently made that a single dose of Peg-interferon lambda can significantly lower incidence of COVID-19 hospitalizations or emergency department visits.
Abstract: In this perspective, I counter-argue a claim that was recently made that a single dose of Peg-interferon lambda can significantly lower incidence of COVID-19 hospitalizations or emergency department visits. Some major flaws in a recently published article that suggested this benefit are discussed while asking the global authorities to learn from the prior mistakes and to be of utmost caution when considering its final decision regarding adoption of a single dose of Peg-interferon lambda to manage COVID-19. It has been declined to be published by the respective NEJM that published the fraudulent claim without any comment and it's reasonable that many journals might be hesitant to allow a peer review. However, no matter my argument could seem harsh, the loss of millions of lives due to corrupted American journals and health care authorities that allowed failure pharmacotherapeutics to manage COVID-19 patients in return of billions of dollars profits is much harsher and I'll not be surprised if this preprint follows numerous previous ones that I was tired and eventually gave up and stopped seeking to find a peer review opportunity.
