TL;DR: In this paper, a single bandpass ceramic filter is coupled with a multi-band filter for combining and sorting by frequency two or more signals into a composite signal or from the latter.
A single bandpass ceramic filter (100) comprises a dielectric block (130) having one or more holes (101-106) extending from its upper surface to its lower surface and also having electrodes of inlet and outlet (124, 125) each disposed on the dielectric block at a predetermined distance from a corresponding hole. The dielectric material is preferably ceramic comprising BAO, the TuO2 and ZrO2. When there is a hole in the dielectric block, input and output electrodes can be disposed around the hole. If there are two or more holes in the dielectric block, an electrode can be disposed near the hole at one end and the other electrode can be disposed near the hole at the opposite end of the dielectric block. This is entirely copper or silver except for the parts near each hole and input and output electrodes. Chaque trou plaque constitue essentiellement un resonateur coaxial. Each plated hole essentially a coaxial resonator. The coupling between adjacent coaxial resonators obtained using plated holes can be adjusted by means of slots (110-114) or additional holes disposed between the elements. Two or more single bandpass ceramic filters can be coupled to obtain a filter having higher selectivity or a multi-band filter for combining and / or sorting by frequency two or more signals into a composite signal or from the latter .

TL;DR: In this paper, a buck regulator or impedance converter is described for operating a current limited power supply such as a photovoltaic array at or near its maximum power point, which is achieved at the compliance voltage which is an almost constant voltage, and means for sensing the voltage at the input of the regulator and using this sensed voltage to control a logic circuit which, in turn, controls the duty cycle of a switching transistor.
Abstract: A buck regulator or impedance converter is disclosed for operating a current limited power supply such as a photovoltaic array at or near its maximum power point. The maximum power point for such a supply is achieved at the compliance voltage which is an almost constant voltage. Means are provided for sensing the voltage at the input of the regulator and for using this sensed voltage to control a logic circuit which, in turn, controls the duty cycle of a switching transistor. The output from the switching transistor is coupled to an LC filter and from there to the load. The logic circuitry, responsive to the sensed voltage, controls the duty cycle of the switching transistor in such a manner as to maintain the input voltage approximately constant and thus to maintain the power supply at or near its peak power operating point.

TL;DR: In this paper, a general communications controller (GCC, 104), a plurality of channel communications modules (CCM 106, 108, 110, 112) and associated transmitters (114, 120, 124) and receivers (116, 118, 122, 126, 128), and a plurality radios (130, 132, 134).
Abstract: A data communications system (Figure 1) that covers a geographic area divided into a plurality of non-overlapping zone (Figure 2) and includes a general communications controller (GCC, 104), a plurality of channel communications modules (CCM 106, 108, 110, 112) and associated transmitters (114, 120, 124) and receivers (116, 118, 122, 126, 128), and a plurality of portable radios (130, 132, 134). Message signals carrying alphanumeric information are communication between the GCC (104) and the portable radios (130, 132, 134) by way of a radio channel. Each CCM (106, 108, 110, 112) takes a signal strength measurement every time it receives a message signal from a portable radio (130, 132 or 134). The GCC (104) gathers the signal strength measurements from the CCM receivers (116, 118, 122, 126, 128) receiving the same message signal and computes an adjusted signal strength for each zone. The GCC (104) then selects the zone having the largest adjusted signal strength for determining the location of the portable radio (130, 132 or 134) that transmitted the message signal. Whenever the GCC (104) transmits a message signal to a portable radio, the CCM transmitter (114, 120, 124) is used that covers the zone having the largest adjusted signal strength for the last transmission from that portable radio (130, 132, 134). Since the GCC (104) can be simultaneously transmitting message signals to portable radios (130, 132, 134) in other zones using non-interfering CCM transmitters (114, 120, 124), information throughput is greatly enhanced.

TL;DR: An electrooptic color display for displaying selectable indicia includes a ferroelectric ceramic element, such as a PLZT material, first and second polarizers on each side of the element, and a mechanism for selectively inducing a transverse electric field at selectable areas on the element as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An electrooptic color display for displaying selectable indicia includes a ferroelectric ceramic element, such as a PLZT material, first and second polarizers on each side of the element, and a mechanism for selectively inducing a transverse electric field at selectable areas on the element, said areas corresponding to the indicia. The electric field can be produced by applying a voltage to transparent interleaved electrodes on one or both surfaces of the ceramic element. These areas produce spectrally selective phase retardation which causes the color of the indicia to be different from that of the background color. Preferably a separate retardation element which may be fixed, variable, or a combination of both, is disposed between the polarizers to provide a fixed color bias that determines the background color. This invention contemplates transmissive, reflective, and transflective color displays.

TL;DR: In this paper, a pipelined data processor automatically retrieves the stored state information and restores the state thereof in accordance with the retrieved state information, then resumes execution of the instruction.
Abstract: A pipelined data processor capable of automatically storing in an external memory all essential information relating to the internal state thereof upon the detection of an access fault during instruction execution. Upon correction of the cause of the fault, the data processor automatically retrieves the stored state information and restores the state thereof in accordance with the retrieved state information. The data processor then resumes execution of the instruction. The faulted access may be selectively rerun upon the resumption of instruction execution. In response to detecting a particular sequence of a loopable instruction followed by a conditional branch instruction which selectively branches back to the loopable instruction, the data processor enters a loop mode wherein the loopable instruction and the branch instruction are internally recirculated around the pipeline to save instruction fetch cycles.

TL;DR: In this paper, an improved semaphore is described that arbitrates the access of a memory shared by first and second microcomputers operating asynchronously at the same speed or at different speeds.
Abstract: An improved semaphore is described that arbitrates the access of a memory shared by first and second microcomputers operating asynchronously at the same speed or at different speeds. The semaphore includes a semaphore flip-flop producing a binary semaphore signal indicating whether or not the semaphore is owned, and an ownership flip-flop producing a binary ownership signal indicating which of the first or second microcomputers previously owned the semaphore. First gating circuitry decodes control signals from the first microcomputer and generates a read or write pulse signal. The read pulse signal from the first gating circuitry loads the semaphore signal and ownership signal into first and second flip-flops, respectively, whose outputs are applied to the data bus of the first microcomputer. Second gating circuitry decodes control signals from the second microcomputer and generates a read or write pulse signal. The read pulse signal from the second gating circuitry loads the semaphore signal and ownership signal into third and fourth flip-flops, respectively, whose outputs are applied to the data bus of the second microcomputer. If the first and second microcomputers access the semaphore simultaneously, access is granted to the second microcomputer since the output of the third flip-flop resets the first flip-flop to deny access to the first microcomputer.
