01 Aug 1994TL;DR: The optically pure (+) isomer of zopiclone is also useful for treating disorders that are affected by the binding of agonists to central nervous system or peripheral benzodiazepine receptors as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Methods and compositions are disclosed utilizing the optically pure (+) isomer of zopiclone. This compound is a potent drug for the treatment of sleep disorders, such as insomnia, and convulsive disorders, such as epilepsy. Similarly, these novel compositions and methods are useful for the treatment of sleep disorders and convulsive disorders while avoiding the concomitant liability of adverse effects associated with the racemic mixture of zopiclone. The optically pure (+) isomer of zopiclone is also useful for treating disorders that are affected by the binding of agonists to central nervous system or peripheral benzodiazepine receptors. Also described are methods and compositions for treating disorders that are affected by binding of agonists to central nervous system or peripheral benzodiazepine receptors while avoiding the adverse effects associated with the administration of the racemic mixture of zopiclone.

TL;DR: One aspect of the present invention relates to a method of treating of drug addiction or drug dependence in a mammal, comprising the step of administering to a mammal in need thereof a therapuetically effective amount of a heterocyclic compound, e.g., a 3-substituted piperidine.
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to a method of treating of drug addiction or drug dependence in a mammal, comprising the step of administering to a mammal in need thereof a therapuetically effective amount of a heterocyclic compound, e.g., a 3-substituted piperidine. In a preferred embodiment, the method of the present invention treats cocaine addiction or methamphetamine addiction.

23 May 1995TL;DR: In this paper, a method for producing albuterol by the resolution of a mixture of enantiomers of 5-[2]-(1,1-dimethylethyl)amino]-1-hydroxyethyl]-2-hydroxylbenzoate using di-toluoyltartaric acid was proposed.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing albuterol by the resolution of a mixture of enantiomers of 5-[2-[(1,1-dimethylethyl)amino]-1-hydroxyethyl]-2-hydroxybenzoate using di-toluoyltartaric acid. The invention further relates to a method for producing albuterol by the resolution of a mixture of enantiomers of methyl 5-[2-[(1,1-dimethylethyl)amino]-1-hydroxyethyl]-2-(phenylmethoxy)benzoate or α-[[(1,1-dimethylethyl)amino]methyl]-4-(phenylmethoxy)-1,3-benzenedimethanol using a chiral acid such as (+/-) di-toluoyltartaric acid or (+/-) di-benzoyltartaric acid.
