Abstract: A fresh approach to instructional design, one that emphasizes the importance of cognitive style as a learner characteristic, is presented here. The authors report that 11 dimensions of the characteristic have been found, suggesting that individuals differ in the way they process information. Noting that cognitive styles are stable, resistant to change by training and bear little relation to general ability, the authors advocate assisting the learner whose information-processing pattern is not compatible with the task to be learned by plannedsupplantation involving overt alteration of the task requirement with which the learner is having difficulty. They propose a three-step instructional design plan with which to move“beyond individual instruction to individualized instruction” in which“differences in learners need not result in differences in learning.”

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focused on one stage of the juvenile offender processing system-the decision to recommend an official police warning or to prosecute and thus refer the child to court.
Abstract: As part of a larger study including court dispositions and the female offender, the data discussed in this paper focuses on one stage of the juvenile offender processing system-the pol:ce decision to recommend an official police warning or to prosecute and thus refer the child to court. Unofficial warnings are not recorded and are therefore not included. From studying these decisions, it is hoped that some insight can be gained into police decision-making and the stereotypes of juvenile offenders which operate at the level of police-juvenile contact. The theoretical framework adopted in this paper is primarily that of the interactionist

TL;DR: In this paper, a mass spectrometric and mobility analysis of the positive ion species in the flame ionization detector is presented. But the authors do not consider the effect of the number of ion species on the electrical properties of the detector.
Abstract: An earlier paper by two of the present authors gave an electrical theory of the flame ionization detector. Results of mass spectrometric and mobility studies of the positive ion species in the detector are presented here. For all organic additives, at concentrations around 1 %, the charge is carried by a group of ions, H 30+(H20 )w, where n is a small integer. These ions behave effectively as a single ion in mobility experiments because an equilibrium distribution is maintained as they drift towards the collector electrode. At low concentrations of additive a second group of ions, N H ^(H 20 )n, becomes comparable in number with the H 30 +(H20 )n group. This alters the electrical characteristics of the detector but does not affect its linearity.
