TL;DR: In this article, a batch adaption of methylene blue (MB) from solid waste from a biodiesel plant has been successfully used for the removal of the hazardous cationic water soluble dye -methylene blue -from an aqueous phase, and it was found that the adsorption process was exothermic and feasible at low temperatures.
Abstract: Solid waste (SW) from a biodiesel plant has been successfully used for the removal of the hazardous cationic water soluble dye - methylene blue (MB) - from an aqueous phase. Batch adsorption studies were carried out by monitoring the pH, amount of adsorbent, initial dye concentration and contact time. Attempts have also been made to monitor the adsorption process through Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and D-R adsorption isotherm models. Relevant thermodynamic parameters were calculated and it was found that the adsorption process was exothermic and feasible at low temperatures. The nature and randomness of the adsorption process was determined by calculating the thermodynamic parameters such as Gibbs free energy (∆Go), change in entropy (∆So) and heat of adsorption (∆Ho). The kinetics of the adsorption indicates that the process is pseudo-second-order and also reveals the involvement of bulk diffusion and intraparticle diffusion mechanisms.

01 Dec 2015TL;DR: This paper discussed homomorphic encryption methods and their applications in cloud computing to secure data in processing state, which allows user to operate encrypted data directly without decryption.
Abstract: Cloud computing is recent emerging Internet based technology in IT industry. With rapid development of cloud computing over Internet, security became major issue that garnered attention of researchers from academic as well as industry. Data Security is a great barrier in adaptation of cloud computing. Traditional standard encryption methods provide security to data in storage state and transmission state. But in processing state, performing operations on data require decryption of data. At this state data is available to cloud provider. Hence traditional encryption methods are not sufficient to secure data completely. In this paper, we discussed homomorphic encryption methods and their applications in cloud computing to secure data in processing state. Homomorphic encryption allows user to operate encrypted data directly without decryption.

Abstract: Human detection and tracking from video stream is important for many applications. Existing detection methods were based on skin-color segmentation or gray level face detection to detect the human. In this paper human detection is based on a silhouette oriented feature called edgelet feature. The system automatically detects and tracks possibly partially occluded humans from a single camera, which is stationary. The discriminative classifiers of objects of a known class are learnt and applied to the video sequence frame by frame. The output of the detection module is a soft decision which consists of a set of detection responses of different confidence levels. The combined detection responses provide the observations used for tracking. The responses of a multiple view detection system are taken as the observation of the human hypotheses. Trajectory initialization and termination rely on the confidences computed from the detection responses. Finally the human is tracked by mean shift style tracker. The system tracks human with interobject and scene occlusions with static or non-static backgrounds. Edgelet features are suitable for human detection as they are relatively invariant to clothing differences.

21 Jul 2011TL;DR: An overview of handover procedure of LTE-Advanced is given and the analysis shows that the handover interruption time for LTE- advanced complies with the IMT-Advanced requirement.
Abstract: High-speed data applications over wireless networks have been growing rapidly in recent years. With this increased use of wireless data, services in wireless networks require performance guarantee. This is, therefore, driving the need for regular innovations in wireless technologies to provide more and more capacity and higher quality of service (QoS). These higher performance requirements have motivated 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) to work on LTE-Advanced. LTE-Advanced is a technology enhancement to Long Term Evaluation (LTE) that is under evaluation of the requirements of IMT-Advanced. There are a few mobility enhancements in LTE-Advanced to assure good performance at the time of handover. The generic handover procedure of LTE-Advanced builds upon the one developed for LTE and minimizes the handover interruption time. This tutorial article gives an overview of handover procedure of LTE-Advanced and analyzes handover interruption time in Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) modes. The analysis shows that the handover interruption time for LTE-Advanced complies with the IMT-Advanced requirement.
